Just wanted to draw attention to some useful info on bursaries available for Masters Studies in Wales link
If you’re over 60 especially, there is a £4000 bursary available to all (due to loan restrictions.

Thank you for this.

That £4,000 is … sweet - but does it, realistically, make the difference between someone taking up or not taking up a postgraduate offer?

BestIsWest · 02/10/2021 13:42

You have to be under 60 to get a loan for a Masters in England and Wales so it might be a help though you would need to be able to fund the rest yourself.

Not sure why, presumably it’s to do with the ability to repay.

Yes … That’s what I meant. Not every single over 60 year old will necessarily have spare money. In that case, without access to the main loan, would £4K actually change one’s finances sufficiently to make the degree possible?

BestIsWest · 02/10/2021 13:51

It might for me. I agree with you though. I wonder how many take it up.

My masters is costing £6000 so yes £4000 would make a big difference to paying privately I think?

Bumping for new readers …

And again as people might be thinking about applying for postgrad study around now …

treetimetea · 04/02/2022 10:19

@BestIsWest thanks for this, if I'm living in England and studying a masters at a Welsh university but online, would I be eligible or is it for welsh residents only? Thanks

BestIsWest · 04/02/2022 10:48

Ooh, I honestly don’t know @treetimetea. I’m just hoping they will still be doing them in 2023.
