Four Stone Loss on Low Carb

A few years ago I tipped the scales at well over 18st and after a couple of comments I started a low carb lifestyle, at my lowest just before a holiday a couple of years ago I had got down to 14st 2lbs and felt great.
I have stuck to it in the main but even when I come off it for a day or two for a birthday or a meal out or night out and quite easily put on 7-9lbs, if I restart straight away and resume low carb ways I can get back to my fighting weight.

I probably lost three stone quite easy in a few months and it was the final stone that was stubborn to come off, I eat mostly chicken but enjoy burgers, sausages and all types of eggs including omelettes and steak at the weekend.
Salted nuts at night with Pepsi max and all types of cheese.
I love meat so ham and corned beef at night and Roast dinners with lamb, pork and beef with broccoli and cauliflower .

I don't drink beer anymore but if in the mood Bacardi and diet coke goes down well, if anybody fancies losing weight after Christmas for the summer there are worse ways of doing it but like all things you need will power and you have to want to do it.
I put on 9lbs last week going to the races and having a meal and chocolate and beer etc but was back to my same weight after four days of low carb bread, eggs mayo and chicken meals.

As soon as you eat any carbs you will put on weight, but it is water not fat. I’m not particularly au fait with the science, but I think that the glucose in the carbs binds with water. So although your weight on the scales increases you haven’t put on 7lb of fat.
When you start low carbing the glucose/water drops off first, which is why the start of a low carb diet is always great cos you lose half a stone really quickly.

The only way to stay at your target weight if you want to reintroduce carbs is probably to assume that you’re still half a stone heavier than you’re aiming for, and keep up the low carb diet until you’re a bit lower than you want to end up.

Thanks for the reply, you are right. It is ok to come off my strict life now and again.
We all have to live, I have done all the hard work now and feel great.

Just had a large pork chop and broccoli ..

I would think it's do able unless you are vegan and then a bit more difficult.

What you are essentially doing is eating the normal amounts of protein but using healthy fats as an energy source rather than high amounts of carbs.

In terms of vegetables you are focusing on above the ground greens, just be careful with fruits (stick to small amounts of berries but combine with fat, so berries and full fat greek yoghurt, green apple with peanut butter).

You'll get your protein from cheese etc

Beans and lentils can be OK but eat them trying to retain their fibre as much as possible, same goes for veg. The fat in the form of avocado, grass fed butter, olive oil, cream, yoghurt, nuts etc, combined with fibre should fill you up and keep you full.

If you are having small amounts of carby foods, make sure they are whole grain and eat them after your fats, fibre and protein.

I eat meat but what I'll do is have a salad with avocado and some nuts and seeds and then have my protein with my carbs, so say like bolognaise or chili on top of a small buttery baked potato with cream cheese and butter.

I eat low carb for blood sugar rather than weight loss as I initially did full keto and lost a few stone that I really didn't need to lose.
