Morning all, I need some good high protein snacks please. I'm a bit bored of fruit and a handful of nuts. What are your favourites?

If you are having fruit and nuts as snacks you are going to hit your max carb target pretty quickly. Also, I am not sure any fruit are high protein, but feel free to correct me.

One of the benefits of low carb done is that it is really filling so there is no drive to snack other than boredom, and if you feel the need, it does suggest that your meals are not substantial enough or too far apart.

For ideas and inspiration try looking at Eric Westman or The Ketogenic Woman on youtube.

My personal favourites for low carb snacks are cold meat, cheese, or double cream. But I realise this is not to everyones taste!
Best of luck!

Depends how low carb and how "clean" or how pure keto you are tbh.

Cheese or cooked meat like chicken drumsticks or slices of bacon etc are probably your best options. If you are including a bit of sour dough then Peters yard do some nice sour dough crackers/flatbread that go well with a bit of pate or full fat cream cheese but olinas crackers are more keto friendly.

There are some good recipes for cookies made with almond flour or keto granola bars but you need to be okay with artificial sugar usually. You could have some berries with full fat greek yoghurt or double cream or with a bit of keto granola.

I'm not that strict so I like the kind dark chocolate and sea salt bars which are lowish carb (I think around 7 g) and I'm partial to some dark chocolate (anything 80 % plus, the darker the better).

I actually don't snack much but I'll have some of those things as my meal or with a meal.

Oh and if you like fish then tinned mackerel are good.

Half an avocado filled with cream cheese and and a couple of walnuts is nice too.

A low carb diet is one that will keep hunger at bay (between meals) so you shouldn't need to snack. Are you really hungry, or is it just a habit?

Try having a drink of sugar free squash or just water, then ask yourself 15 minutes later if you still feel the need to snack. I think feeling just a bit hungry between meals is a positive as it’s the body why of telling me it needs more food to keep the engine running and if I don’t snack then it needs to use the reserve tank i.e. my fat belly.

I use Purition shakes. They are fab, natural and keep me full. I don't have them as snacks, I have one for breakfast, one for lunch and then a cooked dinner. They could definitely be used as a snack though.
