Wedding weight loss

Hi all, I posted this in the general weight loss thread have had no responses so just posting here because I’m following a low carb diet and just looking for advice.

My wedding is in early July and I desperately need to lose a stone for my dress. I’ve had a long time to lose weight and I have been trying but with stress and bereavements I’ve had lots of slip ups too.

I’m currently intermittent fasting and following low carb diet, I’ve cut out bread, pasta rice etc. I’m consuming 1000 calories a day. Twice a week I do a personal training session and I do 30 mins cardio workout in the morning and aim for 12000 steps each day. The scales are moving so slowly. Some weeks I haven’t even lost a pound. I do think I’m losing inches because my clothes fit better on the bust and thighs but my stomach and arms are still stubbornly staying the same.

Any advice? It’s making me feel really down. I have about 3 weeks until my first fitting.

Thanks

Ah congrats on your wedding!
well done on all the exercise and weight loss - even though you feel it’s slow

are you weighing everything? It’s amazing how much extra you could be eating and therefore having maintenance calories if you’re not sure on those 1000 cals. Eg a bit extra chicken , an extra spoon of yoghurt etc all adds up over the day. I would weigh and track everything which passes your mouth.

also are you particularly overweight? Your loss will be slower if not…

its not easy and very hard!!!

suspect your loosing inches too which scales are not seeing

i hope your dress fits you and you have a fab day!

Thank you for your lovely message! I am trying to be happy with the slow weight loss, and I have lost inches because my pt checks that once a month. I think I just choose the wrong dress. I was so confident that I could lose the weight and there’s nowhere to hide in it. It has a low back and skinny straps, making it hard to find shape wear.

I don’t think I’m very overweight no. I’m a size 12 but only 5,2 so according to my bmi I’m obese. It’s really is only my stomach I’m conscious off and my arms to a lesser extent. It’s annoying I seem to lose everywhere else!

Oh and to answer questions about weighing food, yes I do. I weigh everything and am very careful. I’m beginning to think being miserable isn’t worth it though. I just don’t want to look back on my wedding photos and feel sad.

Oh @Eightysixnotgreat dont say that! I’m sure you will look beautiful and your DP will think you look perfect. I know what you mean about the photos but I’m sure your being overly harsh on yourself

It’s so hard to loose weight I’m also trying to and it’s very slow. I know why mine is slow (I keep having weekends off and going a bit crazy!)

if you give up you will gain / stay the same. If you keep going you will loose some more.

just thinking if your def having 1000 cals and exercising and not loosing much do you need some bloods like your thyroid checking just to make sure ?

what sort of things have you eaten today?

It should be pretty easy to lose a stone by July if you’re following a keto diet. If you’re low carbing, but going over the recommended carb limit, weight loss will be really slow.

If I do keto (usually before a holiday) I can easily lose 4lb per week minimum.

Smartmove · 18/04/2024 18:15

@FrannieGallops the first few weeks you do loose quickly (glycogen stores water etc) but no one would continue to loose 4 pounds a week even on keto ?

ManchesterBeatrice · 18/04/2024 18:25

If you have the time, and are a member of a gym, I would massively up the exercise to be honest. I'm losing one to two pounds a week to try and get down to a goal weight of 55 kg, from 59 kg.

I'm spinning five times a week, and also doing weight training three times a week. On top of quite a bit of walking at the weekend. I'm trying to consume around 1200 cal a day.

I'm at 57.5kg and have been going for 4 weeks.

@Eightysixnotgreat we're starting the next low carb Bootcamp on 13 May, which will finish in w/c 1 July, so should be helpful for you!

Are you currently following a specific low carb plan?

ManchesterBeatrice · 28/04/2024 16:48

I'm now 55.3kg, so it does work!

DumpedByText · 28/04/2024 17:13

1000 calories a day is low, why not try 1200 for a week and see how that goes. You must be hungry on 1000 surely, I'd be starving!

mumzof4x · 15/05/2024 21:50

I lost a stone doing the Michael Mosely keto fast 800 but only stuck to it week days
To be fair at 52 I was really struggling to lose anything but this actually worked
That and the inevitable butterflies leading up to the big day !! I couldn't eat !

mumzof4x · 02/06/2024 11:04

I followed the Michael Mosely red book Fast800 for a couple of months prior to my wedding last August and lost just over a stone
The first week I lost like 5or 6 pounds then it was slower because I like my red wine at the weekend but it still came off almost too much in the end x
Good luck !
