Low carb and sleep

Does anyone else find eating low carb affects their sleep quality? I have been eating low carb since February and it has been great for weight loss (and reducing glucose spikes seen by testing with cgm).

I have however recently noticed that if I don't have any starchy carbs in my evening meal I get hardly any deep or rem sleep. I am wondering about adding potatoes/rice etc to my evening meal but don't want to undo all the weight loss benefits and was wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

I haven’t eaten LC for a few years, about to restart partly because when I was strictly low carb I slept better than I had done for years.

I found on LC that I just wasn’t hungry, and would eat a lunch at about 3pm and dinner at 8ish, could you push your main meal back a bit so that you are not empty going to bed?

I sleep better but very few hours. I regularly sleep 2-3 til 8. It's like I'm just not tired to go to sleep. The other day I was awake til 4.30.

Keto insomnia is definitely a thing, for me.

I am maintaining and eat low carb.I think it does impact my sleep.I only sleep for 5/6 hours.I am not exhausted though when I wake. It is annoying though

Same here. Good quality but fewer hours.

I read/heard somewhere that low carb reduces the bodys need for sleep becuase there is less maintanenence to do, due to less inflammation. Cant recall where this is from, but take a look at the podcasts on STEMtalk.

I think it was this episode, but might be a different one. You can also question the accuracy of your sleep tracker.
Do you feel rested?
