Smoothie - need the sweetness!

I love a nice smoothie - but only fruit ones. I add full fat cream and berries.

Before starting low carb/keto, I would add a large banana for extra sweetness.

What can I add now? I don't really want to add artificial sweeteners because I'm trying to avoid those. Obviously honey is not allowed.

My ideal scenario is that I will wean myself off the desire for sweet over time so that smoothies with berries are sweet enough - but I'm not quite there yet.

Thanks!

Cinnamon? Or just wait for your taste buds to adjust - I don't miss sweet things at all now, and enjoy things like vegetables more.

How long did it take you to adjust Cosycoffee? (or were you never big on sweet stuff)?

Hmm I'm not sure, I've been on (and off!) the low carb/upf-free/paleo train for so long! I think only a week or two at the most. The sugar craving comes right back when it's awoken by eating sweet stuff though. You have to try and smother it by eating lots of the stuff that you can eat - things like Greek yoghurt and nuts, nice meat that's not too lean, cheese and so on. Good luck!

And to answer your question, yes I was big on sweet stuff before. I would think nothing of eating three Frys Chocolate Cream bars in a day, several cans of full sugar coke, or a whole tub of Häagen-Dazs! Shock

Apart from anything else I get much less toothache these days 😂

Yep, that sounds like a sweet tooth to me! :)

I think it's probably best to go cold turkey on the sweet stuff. I'll just put a few extra berries in my smoothies to start with and gradually cut it down.

I am, mostly enjoying this way of eating. We've just had a Greek take away and I had kebabs (without bread or rice). It was basically meat and peppers with a side of Greek salad. Not bad at all!
