Losing tummy fat

Hi, I am peri meno. I exercise a lot ( cardio and strength based exercises). Don't drink alcohol. Don't eat sweet things. I'm about 10 and half stone, 5ft 5in. Would like to shift a half a stone but really struggling. I eat really healthily. Could probably eat less ( that's probably key 🤣). It's all around my tummy. Any suggestions welcome 🙏

Eat less.

Hi timmy. I'm in a very similar position to you. I exercise regularly (weights, yoga, pilates, bit of cardio) and I'm slim and healthy but in the last year I've started gathering weight around my lower belly. I've done so much research and things really are pointing towards the menopause. Apparently we can't process carbs as well when we approach the menopause😫 which is shy I've headed to the low carb forum to get some ideas. I do love carbs and sugar in all forms, and my moods/low energy that seems to be coming with menopause is making me reach for carbs even more.

So I'm going to attempt to really lower the amount of carbs I eat for a while to see if this helps. Whilst I get that doesn't help you, I think it can be good to know that others are in the same boat!

Thankyou, I have really tried to cut back this week with bread, think it's helped a bit. Good luck 👍

In my experience tummy fat is the very last fat to go. I have lost 10kg and now at bmi 19.5 but still have some tummy fat although it is just starting to go now. I do low carb, intermittent fasting and my main exercise is weight training as I am trying to build muscle. Still yet to see any abs but do have a line down the middle of my tummy now.

I definitely think low carb helps, when I cut bread I saw a big difference. I still have up to 100g carb a day though, mainly in veg/fruit, I have cut most starchy sources.

Thankyou, I think you are right about it being the last fat to go. Well done for losing all that weight 👏
I'm cutting out bread a bit and that does help

Ditto. Replace carbs with protein and eat less. I am aiming for just 2 meals a day right now (but I have a stone and a bit to lose). Veg trumps fruit apparently.

Replace with wholegrain and up your fibre and water intake - I lost 4 inches on my waist by doing just this.
