Bowels on keto

Of anyone doesn't mind sharing....how are your bowels on keto? I'm doing it for the second time. I. Lost loads of weight the first time round and felt amazing and full of energy but then completely fell off the wagon. Back on it now. The first time I had constant diarrhoea. This time the opposite problem! So confused as I'm eating the same things. How are your...ummm...toilet experiences?

I had the runs for the first couple of days swiftly followed by constipation, about a poo a week for two weeks. I'm another two weeks in and things are a lot better and more regular and normal. A lot less poo in total though as I'm obviously eating less bulk.

I think it requires a bit of experimentation and trial-and-error of what combinations of things your body can handle. I got the runs after eating oily fish with a salad. Another time after I ate roasted cauliflower and pork belly and it happened again. I think it was just too much fat with too much fibre in those combinations. Now if I have oily fish I tend to eat it just by itself, and then have a "salad course" a bit later on. Or if I eat pork belly I have it with any veg that isn't cauliflower. I think its probably different for different people.

Now my bowels are fine generally and I feel very settled on this way of eating.

Runny, very runny and explosive. Wasn't fun.
