Really fancy a baked camembert, but stuck for dipping ideas. I Don't fancy cucumber or celery, and am tempted to have bacon or pork belly, BUT I want to keep my calories reasonable.

Apple

CourtneeLuv · 03/11/2022 16:54

thanks, apple is in the same category as celery or cucumber 😆

I think I'm going to have mushrooms, a couple of olives on the side, a tiny bit of serrano ham and some homemade tortilla (cauliflower instead of potato) 😋

I assure you it is certainly not the same category. Apple and cheese actually go together. It’s a classic.

Celery is passable potentially but a bit blurgh. Cucumber though! Criminal.

CourtneeLuv · 03/11/2022 19:37

I know but I don't want to eat apple tomorrow. I have got a lonely one in the kitchen so it might make its way into my meze.

Cornichons/pickles! Roasted cauliflower (cauli cheese style)

Newusernameaug · 03/11/2022 19:40

Apple with baked Camembert is really good, so it carrot sticks.

HandsomeDaughter · 05/12/2022 07:58

Pork Puffs by The Curators. It's sold on Amazon and Sainsbury's. I nominate salted flavour (yellow bag) it's only 118 calories for a really decent amount. Better for teeth than pork crackling although there are usually a few hard ones in the bag at the bottom so eat carefully. The puffed ones are so nice sort of like wotsits.

Plain chicken breast strips/slices
Almond flax seed low carb crackers
Aubergines, peppers, cauliflower either raw or sliced like pieces of crackers and roasted for a bit.

Whatadisgrace · 05/12/2022 08:10

I love carrot sticks with it, I find them nicer than baguette which is our usual go to.

ReedOfFate · 05/12/2022 08:12

Red pepper cut into strips for dipping goes well

Sorry but if you are on low carb for dieting reasons why such high calorie foods?? Camembert is delicious but very fattening, if you are going for a treat just eat the delicious bread!

1Wanda1 · 05/12/2022 08:22

Chipolatas. But agree this is a very high cal meal so no good if the reason for low-carbing is weight loss.

Way to miss the point. 😳

Steamed asparagus! Also, just your fork...

LostMyUserName · 05/12/2022 15:50

I dipped pigs in blankets in baked camembert once.

A whole camembert is about 700 calories so not actually a ridiculous meal, especially if OP is going to eat it with apples or asparagus or on its own.

I eat keto so often do baked camembert with belly pork, pigs in blankets, pork puffs, or keto crackers - Yum 😊

This isn't how a low-carb diet works I'm afraid. 😳. It's the bread that is the enemy here, not the fat!!!

ryvita?

Why thank you @Hellocatshome <takes a bow>

NashvilleQueen · 05/12/2022 17:45

Parmentier potatoes but cooked in an air fryer or with fry light.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 05/12/2022 18:02

It’s low carb, everyone...

Fattening is entirely beside the point. Fat isn’t the enemy. Calories aren’t relevant (per meal, at least).

Apples, potatoes, crackers, etc are not really suitable if OP is being very careful.

@CourtneeLuv if you have Parmesan you can make crackers with it. Will satisfy the crunchy urge.
