I want to put together a little hamper of nice food items for a relative who’s on a low GI lowish carb diet. Not fresh food items. So far I’ve got some fancy EVOO. Any ideas?
thanks

Really dark chocolate/truffles.

I once made a very nice selection of nuts. I bought a big glass jar, small transparent bags, and filled each with roasted smoky almonds, rosemary cashews , pecans, spicy macadamia and so on... and closed every packet with a ribbon and a label. Even years later, she keeps telling me how much she loved that gift.

Easy. Cheese. All of the cheese. Nice nuts

OP said no fresh food items

Nice jerky

Nice balsamic

Nuts and dark chocolate (at least 85%)
Lentil chips are lower carb and a good replacement for crisps.

Cheesies crisps
seed crackers from M&S if you can find them

M&S have stopped making the seed crackers! Gutted as the one thing I miss being low-carb is a nice crunchy cracker with my cheese, and the alternatives I've found are both really expensive and come in tiny packets.

OP, the Seriously Low Carb website has loads of stuff on it.

Is there a reason it has to be food items if this person's on a low carb diet? How about bath/beauty bits instead?

Oddbutnotodd · 05/10/2022 05:53

Balsamic is not low carb.
Lime pickle
100% chocolate- Montezuma

A good low carb cookbook with some ingredients like coconut oil and nut flours?

Nice nuts, posh pork scratchings, cheesies, low carb pizza bases? Send some low carb bread?

I make my own.

I could give it a try - may have to - but I liked just being to open a cupboard and eat some crackers.

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 05/10/2022 07:13

Here’s the recipe I use. I buy the mixed seed bags from Aldi and just use the total seed weight of those (excluding the chia and flax).
