Alcohol advice on low carb diets

Hello everyone,
I'm a week in on a low carb diet and all going okay. But I am due to be going to a hen do next week and I know I will not be able to resist alcohol. Any advice on best alcoholic drinks to have which won't impact ketosis as much as my usual tipple of red wine? Also what do you snack on that is still low carb? Many thanks 🙏

Well, red wine isn't really too bad!

But your best bet would be to switch to a spirit and mixer. Obviously the mixer needs to be a sugar-free one. The best would be vodka and soda, with a slice or two of fresh lime. Or, a light golden rum (something like Mount Gay Eclipse), also with soda and lime.

If you're a gin drinker, it needs to be Slimline tonic - the Schweppes brand. All the other 'light' tonics do have some sugar, so there will be carbs.

From a snacking point of view, do you mean if you're in a bar/pub? Salted peanuts would be best. Avoid cashews as they're much higher in carbs.

Vodka

Don't overdo it or you'll crave carbs

Ketosis fan here.
White wine is ok, as is whisky. I can have 2 whiskey and ginger ales and not get knocked out of ketosis - even the full-fat Fevertree ginger ale is good.

Oh, and have a long hill walk or something planned for the next day/evening - at least an hour, and one that increases your breathing - so if you are knocked out of ketosis then you can sidle back in.

vodka but make sure you make a plate of keto nibbles because it will open your appetite

keto hangovers are awful though so just be warned
