Crashed out of keto today, after three weeks of dedication and weathering 'keto flu' etc. I'm so angry with myself.

I think it's because I was demoralised - I lost 3lbs the first week, but nothing since, even though I was carefully calorie-counting, exercising and checking my ketone levels with a blood monitor.

So why didn't I lose any weight after that initial 3lbs?!

I was overwhelmed by the urge to have a chicken sandwich. And then a Twirl bar. And then two packets of crisps. And then another Twirl . . . Sad

Twirls are amazing, though, so can't say I blame you. Sorry for not being more helpful. Maybe a less drastic eating plan would suit you better?

Have you considered calorie cycling?

Apparently that helps kick you out of a plateau when it comes to weight loss

Well done for lasting 3 weeks I'm struggling making it to 7 says 🤣

Twirls ARE amazing, @middlenglander - and yes, I think I need to do something else. Something where I can still have Twirls in my life

I've never heard of calorie cycling, @Malhao - off to Google it.

I agree. I have been both bigger (BMI 25) and smaller (BMI 20) and had Twirls and chocolate in my life both times. For me, it's about managing portion sizes and not instantly reaching for something when I'm hungry - but very tricky to do, to be honest.

RedPandaFluff · 26/01/2022 17:26

Yeah, if I could just "only eat when I'm hungry" that would be great, I'd be my ideal weight! But I eat when I'm sad, happy, bored, busy, tired . . . Grin

Definitely need to retrain my brain but it's easier said than done.

Can you get some emergency Keto snacks in? So that when you have a craving for chocolate you have Keto cookies or something on hand? Or some 80% cocoa chocolate or above.
Or is bread your nemesis? It might be worth investing some time and energy in finding a Keto quick bread substitute or Keto bread mix you like, personally I've bought some lo dough bases so that when the pizza takeaways becomes tempting I can make myself up a Keto friendly pizza with that instead. Cake is normally a downfall for me so I've got some ingredients in and going to work out what 'PMT cake craving' food I can have ready in time for my next AF
It's an old weight watchers trope, but you don't plan to fail you just fail to plan.
Also, if sticking to a diet was easy everyone would be doing it. So if you slip up, let it go. Don't feel ashamed. Instead feel proud of yourself for all the work you've done, and then get back to it. You haven't failed anything, it's not an ending it's a blip in the road. Be kind to yourself
