Weight loss slow/stop

Hoping for some advice! I started keto a few weeks ago. I was 10 pounds overweight and want to lose around 20 pounds to get back comfortably into a healthy BMI. I’ve been using Carb Manager and been very strict about logging everything. I’ve set my net carb allowance at 40g a day and my calories per day seem to be around 1500 (although I’m not so worried about those, more focused on the carbs). I’m in ketosis, according to the urine strips, and have been since around day 4/5.

My weight loss has been:
Week 1 - 7 pounds (totally brilliant, mostly water I guess but still, great)
Week 2 - 2 pounds
Week 3 - 1 pound
Week 4 - nothing at all

I walk a lot, between 1-2 hrs a day, over hills, so I am active!

Feeling completely demotivated the last few days. Feels like I’m being so strict and seeing no rewards at all. I know weight loss is not always even but just feels like it has stopped working. Not sure whether I’d be better off switching to eating normally but just focusing on calories instead.

Has anyone else experienced zero weight loss for a week or two and then seen it start again without doing anything different? I’m also a bit concerned I’ve wrecked my metabolism 😬.

It's completely normal. First week usually big loss which is water. Smaller loss second. Little or no loss third and fourth while body adjusts. People usually experience a whoosh in weight loss. It's never usually a straight 'every week' loss.

I'd take your measurements if I were you as you might still be losing those even though the scales might say differently.

Thanks supercee, sounds like I need to have a bit more patience. Will stick with it and hopefully see some results in another week or so!

Yeah, taking your measurements is important, your body may look different but the scales may not show that. First weeks are the best and later it becomes tricky as people want to give up since they don't see any noticeable changes. Keep going, take measurements, maybe think of an additional motivation (maybe edit your picture in some free program like Photodiva or Gimp to look thinner, then print it out and have it with you or stick it to the mirror).
I wish weight loss would be a linear process but it's unfortunately not and plateau happens every now and then. Here is a good article on motivation that may be useful- www.womenshealthmag.com/weight-loss/g18211672/weight-loss-motivation/

Weeks 3 and 4 are notorious for not losing weight on a low carb diet as your body adjusts. Hang on in there.

Thanks for the advice! The link to women’s health was particularly great and definitely made me change my mindset a little bit. I’ve just weighed myself and i’ve lost another 2.5 pounds this week, which I’m really chuffed with. I didn’t do anything different, just stuck with what I was doing.
Feel very motivated to carry on now.

Hi, could anyone help me with this issue please? I started keto in February and lost 35 pounds. My weight loss is going slow I think, but I'm doing everything right. I noticed that some weeks I don't lose any weight or I might gain 1 o2 pounds and other weeks I lose 2 or 3 pounds. Does anyone know what the reason could be, please? Is it normal or should I lose weight every week?
Thank you so much for your time and help

I've been keto for nearly three years lost 9 stone in the first year and while maintaining lost another slow stone. It's perfectly normal to lose sporadically. To be honest (and I'm sorry if this is TMI) I only ever weighed myself after a big um... poop.
