Keto loss stopped at week 3

I lost 12lb in the first two weeks, I’m now into week 3 but the scales have stayed the same for the last 2 days (i weigh every morning and take an average loss to accommodate for weight fluctuation - but I hadn’t expected to not see a loss every day so early on).

I remember reading somewhere that Keto loss does stall after a few weeks - does it pick back up? I am definitely under carb count, and definitely eating less calories than I burn. Just looking for some reassurance and incentive to carry on.

Gosh, I think you are being terribly impatient. Two days without loss is nothing. I'm not sure where you read that you will lose weight every day?

Yes, you tend to stall week 3 and 4, although i find i still lose inches rather than lbs.

I’m trying not to be impatient, but I’m very obese and in a massive calorie deficit so I did not expect to be ‘slowing down’ just yet. I am just so desperate to get my BMI under 40 and the first 2 weeks the weight dropped off, I’m just surprised it looks like it’s stopped.

Have you measured yourself? You have probably lost inches even if the scales haven't moved. It sounds like you have made a great start though.

Ideclarethumbwar · 10/03/2021 07:21

No I haven’t yet, that’s a good idea, thanks

Very common to stall a few weeks in.

StuntNun · 10/03/2021 11:37

There's almost always a stall at some point between weeks 3 and 5. It's the body's natural reaction to abrupt weight loss in the first couple of weeks. If you're still eating well then you'll be losing fat but it's masked by water retention.

Ideclarethumbwar · 10/03/2021 11:42

That makes sense, thank you

Constipation, water retention, muscle gain, hormones etc. Our bodies are not an exact science.

Keep going.

Completely normal. In fact, your stall is likely to last longer, followed eventually by a “whoosh” of weight loss in a week or so as long as you keep sticking consistently to the plan.

I lost 16kg last year, and the whole thing was a series of stalls and “whooshes”.
