Question about carb labelling and what counts

Have titled that badly, but if you buy something which says carbs - 5g, of which sugar 2g, do you just count the 2g in your daily allowance or 5g?

You count them all. It's only US packaging which talks about net carbs.

Are you using a carb calculation app? I used carb manager and often weighed food to get it more accurate. I'd use that example as 5g. I never took sugar content into count, just the carbs and fibre.

Thank you both.

I had a look at carb manager but tbh I couldn't figure out how it worked Blush.
I eat meat, low carb veg, fish, eggs, occasionally Greek yoghurt with raspberries and 20g walnuts, a small amount of cheese, small amount of peanuts or peanut butter. I do add homemade oil/vinegar dressing. I'm okay with a limited diet if it keeps things simple.

What I did wonder though, is if it's okay to use a small amount of xylitol in coffee. I have managed to eliminate all sweetener from tea but I struggle a bit with coffee. It needs something. I don't drink milk at all and am not keen on too much cream.

@MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously

I do add homemade oil/vinegar dressing

Which you should be doing! a) because this is a high fat way of eating and b) homemade will guarantee it doesn't have sugar in it, which a lot of store-bought ones will do

I'd try and steer clear of the artificial sweeteners as much as possible
