I haven't lost a single pound. Not one. Every morning I tell myself it's bound to work at some point. But it's just not making any difference at all. Surely I should have lost some weight? What am I doing wrong???

Eating too many calories in total per day? Weigh out and log the actual calories you are eating each day in MFP, if it’s over your tdee than you won’t lose any weight.

What are you eating and drinking?

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/07/2020 23:38

Depends largely (though not exclusively) how many calories you’re eating overall and what you’re burning, and/or what other carbs (oats, fruit, higher carb veg) you’re eating that might be preventing you going into ketosis, if that’s the goal of low carb.

It's the calories. If you just ate three chocolate bars a day you would lose weight. Obviously not healthy. Rather than cut the carbs, and you do need some carbs, just reduce the white ones and replace with healthier versions: sweet potato rather than white, granary rather than white bread, wholewheat pasta rather than plain. And weigh everything and total your calories. My Fitness Pal app of great for that.

That must be so discouraging. If you’re interested in low-carb there’s loads of help and guidance on the Diet Doctor website: www.dietdoctor.com/low-carb/benefits/how-to-lose-weight-with-low-carb

What kind of low carb plan are you following? How are you expecting to lose weight?
Just cutting out those foods won't make you lose weight by itself unless you're in a calorie deficit. Have you been tracking what you've been eating?
If you want to do proper low carb then its about a lot more than just cutting potatoes and bread.

Yes it's frustrating and thank you for all your comments and advice.

I'm 3 stone overweight and not that active, I go on an hour's walk or cycle a day with DC. Not a serial dieter, weight has crept on over last few years, friend recently lost shedloads with no starchy carb diet so thought I would try it. Got MFP and log daily, staying under 1200. Eat v healthily, good mix of protein and carbs from fruit and veg, don't drink, occasional chocolate failings though...

I've always been quite a healthy lifestyle person, so the only real change has been to cut out these 'bad' carbs for the last two months, and what confuses me is that it's made no difference AT ALL!
