I prefer shakes can anyone recommend a brand -flavour and cost plus need not to feel hungry. I believe lighterlife are filling but hear exante and slim and save are good plus I would like to do moderate exercise. Thanks

Exante are yuky and not low carb (since you posted on low carb sub).

When i saw how much a colleague lost on exante i bought a box. 4 months later and its still in the kitchen. The flavours are minging. The bars are oddly salty and the shakes have a chemical cakey flavour.

I also realised that if you are motivated enough to stick to it you are motivated enough to eat normal food at 500 or 800 cals and take a good daily multi vit.

Apparently the egg diet really whooshes the weight loss.

You could eat low calorie food that you count before you start the diet eg design yourself a 3 day menu and repeat it knowing exactly how much cal it gives you.
You could just do 1 meal a day that is a healthy big meal on veg and protein.

Thanks Gina. The shakes need to taste ok as that is all you are consuming. I can get around not eating bars and stuff and prefer to stick to shakes. I don't really want to meal plan as I want to just take the shake with all the nutrients in it.

I posted in low carb as that looked the only option do VLCD

Good luck, you might like them..ice cold water apparently makes them taste better.

Slim and Save have the most palatable flavours out of the couple I tried, good value too and a supportive FB group. I had a mixture of shakes, bars and hot ‘meal’ ( low cal noodles etc) which kept things interesting. I could only take it for about 4 weeks but it really kickstarted my weight loss and I kept it off

Gina thanks good idea re ice cold water.

Thanks Gail. I wanted to kick start weigh loss and think now is a good time to do it in the summer. Will stick it out as long as I can . Good to know about slim and save. I am realistic they won't taste fab. I know lighter life fill you up and you don't feel hungry.

There are a few others out there. LL, Cambridge,
Slim and save. Exante. Are slim fast any good these days.

I don't mind the exante shakes and can eat mist of the bars washed down with loads of water. However the meals are disgusting!!!! The challenge though is what you do afterwards. My DH lost 2 stones but then did not move onto a healthy diet and regular exercise afterwards and put it all back on.

Londongirl888 · 11/06/2020 13:19

Thanks Loris. It is a tough way of doing it to put it back on. Yes def need to be healthy food afterwards.

I recently researched this -I wanted a shake only-no food diet.

Have a look at lipotrim- its run by pharmacies. i would do this one if any - its a shake only meal replacements. No soups bars no pancakes no lo doough .... to break the relationship with food and eating. then after 12 weeks you go on a re-feeding plan.

they are not low carb though. I do vaguley knew someone who did sucessfully about 10 years ago, thats how i heard about it. I am four stone overweight.

In the end: I went for slim fast and nutra-check app and a diet of 1200 cals a day. its going ok so far. I have one shake a day, evening meal and various snacks. I also might have a light day one or two days a week and a 'cheat meal' once a week. Eg home made pizza ive lost half a stone in 3 weeks so that is good.

Good luck

Thanks Cherrypie will check out lipotrim. I did realise I had selected low carb just wanted VLCD

May as well do this now as anytime I am not expecting it to be easy but as it will require a lot of effort I want it to be the right diet. Just got to keep going

I personally like Cambridge. The foods are more expensive but I actually really like the taste, am happy to eat them.

You also have some support from a consultant built into the price, although COVID means no face to face at the moment.

I've tried Exante and didn't like the products. I've also tried a Nestle one, didn't like taste.

If it's all you are eating it helps to like the products.

Exante and Slim & Save are not that low carb - I think about 20 g carbs per shake. Purition is much lower (4-5 g per shake), and taste really nice IMO (they’re not overly sweet), but are not meant as a complete meal replacement. I do use them as a partial meal replacement though, normally in place of breakfast.
