How to make birthday special - Keto

My partners birthday is soon and he started keto on Monday. He’s doing well and usually loves carbs and sweets. As a little gift I planned on getting him a box filled with his favourite sweets from a local supplier.

I’ve decided not to order it however as it wouldn’t be fair if he can eat it any time soon.

I’m really struggling with how to make his birthday special now. No alcohol, no cake, no treats.

I thought about a bbq for him but is there anything else I can do for him during lockdown whilst on keto?

there are keto cake recipes online. (using almond flour and sweetener)

or look for naice nuts, there are some cocoa coated ones or similar. not entirely keto though.

A bottle of seed lip? If he likes gin it’s a decent alcohol-free alternative and no carbs. Quite dear for something that contains no alcohol but delicious - I recommend the spice flavour, having one right now!

Also a cheese cake! I’ve had these before - different round cheeses stacked in height order like a tiered cake. Candle on top!

Some good quality very dark chocolate.

Wouldn’t it be better to make his birthday special in ways that don’t focus in food at all?

Music, little gifts, home made special decorations or cards from the kids, vouchers for treats, a massage or whatever, nice manly stuff for the bath, etc.

A carb-free BBQ is a nice idea, maybe a ‘posh’ version of what is in his diet for breakfast, e.g smoked salmon with his eggs (if that is ‘allowed’).

A BBQ is a great idea. Do you have a good local butcher? Some ribs and steaks and posh bbq food could make it a real treat!

There are lots of keto birthday cake recipes on line. I've made a keto carrot cake and a chocolate cake and both were delicious. Keto brownies are good too

Diet Doctor have a couple of keto ice cream recipes - I tried their mason jar vanilla one and it is divine! Lovely as a treat.
