So I've never done low carb before, spent years on slimming world etc with various results but it's given me an unhealthy relationship with food. I want to eat healthier, cleaner and not as much.
I'm on day 5 of low carb. I've cut out all bread, pasta, rice, cereals (apart from oats) and ALL refined sugar.
I feel fine, craving biscuits and chocolate a bit but can cope.
I'm worried I'm not doing it right though and somehow won't lose weight.
For breakfast I'll have eggs, spinach and either bacon or smoked salmon or maybe mushrooms.
For lunch I'll have salad leaves with chicken or prawns etc
For dinner last night I had chilli with cauliflower rice.
For a sweet fix in evening berries with full fat Greek yoghurt.
I've switched from to skimmed milk to full fat milk and a more now using oils in cooking instead of cooking spray.

I'm definitely eating more than 1000 calories a day (more like 1500 I reckon)

Am I doing this right?
Thanks for any help.

Strongly recommend you join the low card boot camp thread. Very experienced and knowledgable community with loads of resources. Enjoy.

There is much amazing help on low carb living here on mumsnet. Look for the low carb boot camp threads. (BIWI set this up and set out some excellent rules.) It has made all the difference to me over the last two years.

(I was 40 lb heavier two years ago and a long term yo-yo dieter. Low carbing works for me. lLow Carb Boot Campers are very generous in their support -have great ideas and much good humour)

The food sounds good, are you cooking it with fat? Using olive oil or full fat mayo to up the fat content? And drinking a LOT of water every day?

Ninkanink · 24/04/2020 16:36

Yes, you need to look at the boot camp threads (they have their own topic here).

Look for any week1 thread and follow along from there - that way you will get all the information you need.
