I did bootcamp last year but got N pregnant during week 7 and due to HG, had to stop after losing 18lb. Baby is 7 weeks old now and I started low carbing again yesterday. I've already lost 1.2lb! I'd like to lose about a stone. I know bootcamp doesn't start until May so just wondered if anyone else low carbing wanted to keep me company?

So far today I've had bacon, eggs and spinach for breakfast. Plus, coffee with cream.

This is something I really need to get back to. I have gained about 15 kilos over the past 2-3 years and I've realised summer if coming.. again! I am always at my slimmest and happiest (well, in a food has no hold over me and I eat because I'm hungry kind of way) when I'm not eating many carbs.
I'm going to go grocery shopping today because the fridge is quite bare and start tomorrow.
One thing that has tripped me up repeatedly over the past couple of years is that I feel like I need to immediately get back to that super fit person I used to be, like I need to cut out carbs, portion control, have fast days, do bootcamps and run like I'm being chased all on the same day. It just seems exhausting and demotivates me. I'm going to stick with low carb for 2 weeks then maybe add in some fast days. Exercise can wait until I have adapted to fat burning a little further down the line.
Good luck and please post what you're eating and share any good results Smile

I've been back on it since 1 feb and have lost about 2.5 sone. I'm trying to keto now but it's not so easy if you love your veg!
I've a lot to lose - again! So I've set myself a first target. I'm about 19lbs away from and will then do smaller ones of 10lbs until I get to my goal.
I've started doing a 30 minute dog walk every day too.

recreationalcalpol · 18/04/2020 16:40

Yes! I’m on day 6 of Keto - half a stone off already!

I had eggs and bacon for breakfast, egg salad with homemade mayo for lunch, probably homemade burgers for dinner. I’m actually not finding it too bad - it’s the evenings with no chocolate that are bad!

NisekoWhistler · 18/04/2020 16:43

I'm tipping the scales at 80kg. I've done 6 days of Leto, lost 3kg and now just stuffed my face with over 200g of carbs, in my own worst enemy. Back on it tomorrow and will appreciate some moral support

CupCupGoose · 19/04/2020 11:08

@GrimDamnFanjo I thought keto and low carb where basically the same? What's the difference? Sorry if that's a stupid question

@recreationalcalpol evenings without chocolate are where I'm struggling too!

How's everyone doing today? I've lost 2.2lb so I'm very happy! I woke up with the carb flu this morning, very shakey and a headache.i felt fine once I'd had breakfast though.

What are you all having for lunches? I've forgotten what I used to have. Salad every day is boring!

CupCupGoose · 19/04/2020 11:16

@NisekoWhistler @recreationalcalpol @GrimDamnFanjo forgot to say well done on your weightless so far! The thing I like about low carb is the quick weight loss in the beginning as it keeps you motivated.

@Piapea It's so easy to do too much too fast. I started intermittent fasting about a month into low carbing and found it really helped. Can't do it this time round as I'm breastfeeding.

OP posts:
NisekoWhistler · 19/04/2020 12:40

Back on it today.

I've started the day with a black coffee and xct oil (bulletproof coffee) and 5 small rashers of streaky bacon.

Good luck with the keto flu, lots of salt should help.

Keto and low carb are slightly different, keto is strictly a max of 20g of carbs per day.

They say you should calculate your macros based on goal weight.

Carbs always 20g
Protein is in grams what your target weight is 64g for me and fat is double protein so 128g

Keep on it

Judgybitch · 19/04/2020 12:56

Keto is a low carb diet but low carb isn't necessary keto.

I've usually a regular on the boot camp but because of 3 years of pregnancy and breast feeding been more off then on. I'm now 12 weeks postpartum with hopefully my last baby so ready to lose all the weight for good.

At my heaviest during pregnancy I was about 16 and a half st. Lost a stone of baby but was left the heaviest I've ever been. Started dieting a couple of weeks after giving birth and this morning was 13st 9.

I'm using a combination of no s, low carb and occasional fasting (Will miss a meal if I'm not hungry) I'm.also cheating a little and swapping breakfast for an atkins shake. Not ideal I know but tbh I find breakfast hard and it seems to be working so meh.

How has everyone found isolation? Makes it harder or easier? For me it's easier as I can't buy takeaway (My weakness) and with online ordering I am less tempted. Losing half a pound per day is pretty motivating too!! I've promised myself I will continue until lockdown ends and I will only break my diet for the sushi my local saibsburies has at their sushi counter. It's the only thing I'm craving properly.

Judgybitch · 19/04/2020 13:09

Anyone got any low carb quick favourite meals? I'm still managing to cook with a newborn and toddler but haven't got long to do so.

Elouera · 19/04/2020 13:15

Is a bootcamp where you have others start on the same day? If you've done keto before, do you really need a 'bootcamp'? Are you paying for it?

I started keto last year and lost 11kg. I would have continued, but I'm pregnant. I used the carb manager app which really helped me log things and keep track. Keto is where the body is in ketosis to burn the fat, where as low carb is a lower carb intake than a 'normal' diet, but may not be low enough to send you into ketosis. Once people have lost enough weight on a keto diet, they can dial up their carb intake a little to move into just a low carb diet.

Judgybitch · 19/04/2020 14:12

@Elouera

The boot camp is on here three times a year for 10 weeks run by BIWI. One usually starts in May. Then there is a pre christmas one around october. Then one in Jan. Its usually very busy and supportive and BIWI is very strict☺

Elouera · 19/04/2020 14:27

Excuse my ignorance, but what/who is BIWI? Are you all chatting online about progress/weigh ins or its like a forum?

Judgybitch · 19/04/2020 15:53

The boot camp is here on mumsnet. We support each other on the forum. BIWI is the user who normally sets up the boot camp and posts the rules etc.

It starts on a Monday and most people post their weights every Monday though you don't have to if you don't want.

Elouera · 19/04/2020 17:40

@Judgybitch- thanks for the info. If I wasn't pregnant, I'd join x

GrimDamnFanjo · 20/04/2020 01:46

@nisek
I didn't know that's how the protein was calculated!

One of the easiest meals I make is a couple of skin on chicken thighs roasted in the oven with some lemons and rosemary..

ArriettyJones · 20/04/2020 01:47

Yes please. Just weighed today and I’ve gained 5lb during lockdown. We have the diabetes gene in my family so I need to keep on top of it.

NisekoWhistler · 20/04/2020 20:30

Another good day today. Salmon and a poached egg for breakfast, mozzarella and jalapeño coleslaw for lunch, almond butter on cucumber for snack then some belly pork and fake noodles for dinner. Still feel massive though but have to keep going.

How has everyone else got on?

CupCupGoose · 24/04/2020 12:12

How's everyone getting on? Major chocolate cravings here.

OP posts:
ArriettyJones · 25/04/2020 01:14

Just hit day four. Hopefully the cravings will fade now.

I’ve been dealing with temptation by eating outrageously calorific things like strawberries and cream or a whole plate of sausages and mustard. Nevermind the calories as long as it’s very low carb.

Next week, I start low calorie AND low carb.

This is a much better way of getting over the initial carb-craving hump than last time when I just went all in from the start. I’m feeling more optimistic now.

Isadora2007 · 25/04/2020 01:31

I must join you- I’ve regained around 10 lb already in lockdown after losing around 3 stones since last August doing mostly low carb/fast 800 then intermittent fasting/5:2. Just lost all motivation and now am worried I can’t find fresh salad so what to eat?

Also- am prone to bloating and runs etc so also worried about eating too much fat stuff which is tempting in this WAE...

Any helpful tips for healthier eating meals I could have? Up just now with a horrible windy/gripey stomach after eating stupid amounts of pizza and food in general. Something HAS to change. 😔

Babysharkdoodoodood · 25/04/2020 17:12

I had halloumi strips wrapped with bacon and popped in the oven until gooey/crispy. Always skip breakfast as I'm never hungry and it makes me feel sick. Just coffee with cream. Doing beanless chilli with cauliflower rice tonight, although sometimes I cheat and add a few spoons of real rice just for texture.

Also made banana bread yesterday with almond and coconut flour and samosas today with fathead dough. I always make lots of snacky things so I don't raid the breadbin.

Diet Doctor is a great site for recipes.

blueglassandfreesias · 28/04/2020 16:19

Can I join?
I have put on half a stone since Easter where I started getting a bit slack and have lost my motivation to work out.
I’m on day 2 and am Sooooooo tired. Switching to fat adapted is always hard for my poor bod!
I made buttery salty kale crisps for lunch dipped in cream cheese and they were amazing. I’ve had 3 litres of water too.
Need to start 16:8 but can’t resist my 7am cream coffee and want to model eating at every meal time to my DD so need to start eating later tomorrow so I can show myself eating 3 meals like her.

Convo · 01/05/2020 09:26

ListenLinda · 04/05/2020 14:34

Hi all, i’m doing my first day of Keto today! Finding it okay so far, lots of yummy foods already. Bacon & eggs for breakfast, chicken and cheese salad for lunch. Already got 1 litre of water drunk hoping to do 2 more before bed. I think i have a slight headache and not sure if thats the lack of caffeine or the lack of carbs!
