Atkins is hardcore but its works. I just have to be careful not to eat too much protein otherwise I get an upset stomach. I always found I was never hungry on low carb.

How's it going? I'm doing Atkins too

Electrascoffee · 24/09/2018 17:30

Really good, I've lost about 10 pounds in the first week. So far I've not had carb flu either. Carbs make me so bloated and it's an incredibly difficult cycle to break once I start eating them. And I'm constantly hungry too that way.

How are you doing? I hope it's going well for you too :)

I'm doing it, though not massively hard core. What have you been eating?

Electrascoffee · 24/09/2018 17:44

I'm having coffee with double cream for breakfast, some sort of salad with chicken or Tuna for lunch with mayonnaise and something like chicken with vegetables, grated cheese and extra butter for dinner. I eat snack sized cheese but I'm finding I'm not hungry at all which is great.

I avoid things like Diet Coke at the moment because although they don't have any carbs, until your body is well used to ketosis, even if your tongue tastes something sweet your system produces insulin because it's expecting the sugar.

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 18:53

I hate sugar free drinks, anyway. I'm a week and have found it relatively easy to stop the sugar this time.

HollowTalk · 24/09/2018 18:54

A week in, that should say!

Electrascoffee · 24/09/2018 19:30

I think the best thing about low carb is that your waist and tummy immediately slims out. It's very motivating.

That sounds good! I've read about that, though - the wheat belly, sugar belly etc.

Electrascoffee · 24/09/2018 20:16

Yeah I just feel so bad when I eat a lot of carbs. One thing I have to be very careful about it eggs though! The first time I ever did Atkins I got really ill from too many eggs. The diet says you can eat 3 a day in induction. I would strongly advise against this. Make sure you have high fat and only moderate protein imo.

OP posts:
Hairytangerine · 25/09/2018 23:23

How many carbs a day you having?

I had 9g today but nearly 2000 calories. I have been if low carb for three weeks eating like a mad women!

Second day today and I was so hungry. Can you share your meals.

Mine were.

B snickerdoodle shake - eggs, phili, stevia, carb free syrup, water

L 5 boiled eggs and three chicken drumsticks

D 5 boiled eggs and lettuce boats with cheese and mayo. Actually not sure if cheese is ok!

Loads of water

Cantstopworryingaboutit · 26/09/2018 04:30

Do either of you have the Atkins chocolate bars? I have 1 a day to satisfy my sweet tooth!

Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 06:05

You really shouldn't be eating 10 eggs a day - your gut will rebel! And even the diet itself recommends 3 a day max. You also shouldn't be hungry on Atkins so I would guess that you are not eating enough fat. Try adding in as much as you can - olive oil, butter, double cream, mayonnaise, full fat cheese with your meals. Remember it's moderate protein and high fat.

The Atkins bars I do occasionally eat but I try not to because apparently they are not ideal. But they don't seem to cause problems for my loss iyswim.

I usually eat chicken or beef with vegetables or salads with mayonnaise on. Or you can fry a beef burger and eat it with cheese and tomato on with mayonnaise. Coffee with cream is good for breakfast I find.

I'm having about 18 grams of carbs a day. I don't count how many calories.

Hairytangerine · 26/09/2018 06:13

Forgot to say lost three stone on Atkins and have maintained for three years by doing a quick meat, egg day.

I always have loads of eggs. Gut fine. People around me watching me eat so many eggs are a bit 😐 though!

Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 06:31

Oh I see so you are maintaining rather than doing induction because you've lost the weight?

OP posts:
Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 06:33

Cheese is fine btw. I think in induction you aren't supposed to have more than 150 grams a day but if you're maintaining I can't think it would cause you a problem.

I’m just trying to loose a bit after a few weeks off. Lost 2 pounds a day since Monday.

Love getting back on it as it works so well!

Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 10:48

It really does! Plus you don't have to go to the gym!

iLoveSpaDays · 26/09/2018 10:53

Op do you follow a diet plan? Can you post it please, tia.

Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 11:14

I don't follow a diet plan I just eat combinations of whatever foods are allowed in phase one.

OP posts:
Electrascoffee · 26/09/2018 11:19

Here's a link to a page which tells you everything you can eat in phase 1

How's everyone doing?

OP posts:
Electrascoffee · 04/10/2018 10:40

I've been doing phase 1 for 2 weeks and 1 day. I've gone from a size 12 to a 10 and I reckon I must have lost about a stone. I've got to the 'carbs are irrelevant' stage which certainly helps.

Low carb works for me. I'm a carb addict. I tried Atkins in the past with good success but I couldn't maintain it. Now I do Keto which is HFLC. I have lost all bloat in 2 weeks and my trousers are slipping. I dont eat any packaged foods that may spike my insulin levels. I do t eat unless I'm genuinely hungry. However with this way of eating, I can't eat more than twice a day. It varies between 6 and 20 hours between meals. I'm a HUGE HUGE fan of Dr Jason Fung. His Audible book The Obesity Code cover in detail the Atkins Diet and every other common diet and all the studies on these diets. Amazing book, it may be worth a read.
