Has anyone tried this diet? How did you get on?

I started yesterday and really finding it difficult. I think it's cutting out the coffee that's making it so hard.

Why are you having to cut out coffee?

And why not just eat normal food, but keep it low carb?

cowssheephens · 30/04/2016 17:35

It's says that sometimes it's harder to get into ketosis if you are drinking caffine. Everything I've googled says caffine is ok on VLCD. So I'm unsure tbh? Through the worse now so will still to decaf.

Last night I did have a low carb meal...just a bit cautious I'm going to muck it up and not loose weight. Although I am 6lb down in 4 days.

Would love to hear if anyone else has done this diet.

I done it but only done it for ten days before my holiday. I still had my tea. I lost about eight pounds. It all went straight back on quickly though but I was on holiday and didn't do it for long.

I've been on it a week, I'm doing slimfast I've lost just over half a stone.
Taking vits as well since I'm anaemic

The Atkins diet recommends you go without caffeine in the very strict induction phase but I never have and I've always got into ketosis without a problem. I think if you are used to having coffee every day then half the headaches and tired feeling that you are told are to be expected when trying to get into ketosis on induction are as much from the sudden lack of caffeine as from anything about low carbing itself. I break a few rules but so long as I keep it low carb I do whatever I have to to get through it!

I have never heard of Diet Now.

ok just googled, three meal replacement shakes a day sounds very tough to stick to indeed, for more than two or three days. I never understand why people would rather drink those than just eat a nice low carb meal and take some supplements. Confused

WishesAndPixieDust · 19/05/2016 19:39

I only replace 1/2 meals a day with shakes I still have fruit/ low cal snacks and a 600cal meal in the evening. Replacing is a lot easier or me because I'm extremely busy either appointments, nursery run or even meetings it's healthier than the fast food option that was causing me to gain weight Blush

Anyone if Diet Now is the same as the Cambridge Diet

Blue1971 · 25/07/2018 11:47

I think it is the same as the Cambridge, although saying that, on Diet Now you mix shakes with skimmed milk and not water. Really tasty (the shakes). I haven't had a lunch (Meal Replacement) yet... I have a Chicken Curry Noodle Soup to have for my lunch... hopefully it will be really tasty. I am following the diet during the day at work and just eating normally at night (I am a single mum of a 4 year old)... to much fuss and nonsense otherwise - by eating normally, I mean chicken and veggies or pasta with chopped tomatoes/veggies/onions etc rather than the sauces etc...

I'm doing it and there's a great group on Facebook that can help out - the reason they say no coffee is partly due to the milk allowance each day - too much coffee can put you over that limit - try swapping out the milk in the shake for water or half and half - then the coffee is fine - I swapped out the milk for water in the shakes but use 400 ml of water rather than milk so it's less calories and then have either a tuna salad from pret (minus the dressing) or the chicken, basil tomota pasta salad from tesco or similar for an evening meal. It can be difficult to manage as the reduction in calories, food etc can be difficult to cope with at the start. Also you need to be aware that you need to be gradual in what you start eating again as too many calories again suddenly will put the weight back on again. Am assuming I can't post the facebook link on here (if I'm wrong and I can let me know and I will) or search it out it can be a really helpful group esp when you're struggling or low

I have been on it for five days. I don’t feel hungry at all. I did loose
Lots with slimming world before but I just can’t get back into SW mode. I’m doing this as a kick start with DH because we both have bmi over 30 now! When I have done a month or so I will rejoin SW hopefully more confident and in control of my appetite. I’m enjoying so far.

Pig0lga · 25/10/2018 19:42
