Sweetners in hot drinks

3 weeks ago I broke my foot in quite spectacular fashion and after spending a week in hospital, I've been at my DMs as I have to keep my foot elevated at pretty much all times and can't weight bear at all for 6 more weeks. Full recovery is probably going to take 9 months to a year Sad.

The lack of activity combined with a limited ability to control my own diet (I'm pretty reliant on mum, who although wonderful isn't great with food- basically she gives me toast at midday ish and then a takeaway at night) is obviously negatively impacting on my weight.

I think for now low carbing will be the best thing as it won't involve weighing, counting etc and I can try and make choices that fit around that way of eating.

The biggest problem that I can see is that although I can give up most things (not worried about chocolate, cakes, biscuits etc). I will really struggle to not have sweetener in a tea or coffee (just one). Would that be ok? Or would I be best to have stevia or something like that?

I will try to cut down and eventually give it up but for now it's a necessity!

TIA

No idea with regards to low carbing, but I calorie count pretty strictly and don't count the sweetness in my tea, I have 2 per cup and probably have 4 or 5 cups a day and it's never been a problem for me.

Sorry about your foot, hope recovery I'd speedier than you fear.

The jury is out on sweeteners. I use them occasionally for example diet tonic water as a mixer or adding some Stevia to a low carb crumble to take the edge off the sour taste of berries. If you go low carb and you don't lose weight then it might be necessary to cut out or down on sweeteners.
