30 lbs in 3 months, doable?

I have 3 months this Saturday before I go on a 'Big Holiday'. We have saved and saved for this and I want to feel slim(mer) and enjoy it. I figure I do better with nice round numbers (god I'm puntastic tonight!) so thought 30lbs would be a good target. I'm fairly hefty now ... Around 225 and 5'9" ... Any tips/tricks? Words of advice? Thanks all!!

I need to lose about 21 lbs in 6 weeks. I'm going to a wedding and have a dress that is far too tight at the moment that I want to wear. I've low carbed before. The initial weight loss is impressive, but then slows right down or stops.

However, at the moment carbs have crept back in, so I need to get on track. So no potatoes, rice, pasta, bread, alcohol ..? Did you use any particular website or book for guidance or follow boot camp?

I struggle at alternate weekends when I visit my boyfriend, we tend to eat a lot of toast and sandwiches. I'm also on a very tight budget, so can't afford a lot of meat, so if anyone has good low carb recipes using mince, I'd be grateful. Also what do you drink?

FreedomSkree · 19/09/2015 20:53

I used a book called Carb Nite Solution by a man named John Kiefer, it has most of what you need to know. He also has some YT videos up that are worth a look.

Also I should note that the carb nite itself prevents the plateau phase you get in other diets where your body adapts to the system and stops losing weight.

As far as food goes, I pretty much subsist on mince and eggs during the week. Due to the methods employed, the really cheap mince that everyone else shies away from because it's high in fat is almost ideal. As for what I drink, usually black coffee in the mornings, and water everywhere else.

Hi Freedom, how do you cope with eating the same thing most days? I am on chicken soup, home made, most days, and looking at the CNS thing could probably have rice sometimes, but actually am fine with almost daily chicken. Makes life simple if nothing else!

FreedomSkree · 22/09/2015 03:09

Well, meat and eggs are already tasty, especially when you add a lot of stuff you'd normally steer clear of due to high fat content. I have ful fat mayonnaise with most of my meals, and every so often have double cream with my coffee.

Yeah, you can rice on carb nites, though you've got to be careful of what type.

Watching with interest as I am in EXACTLY the same situation - big holiday in 3 months and 30lbs down would be a dream. Currently 165lbs.

Reported all the CarbNite spamming posts.

It's so hard to know which diet/eating plan is best

I've lost 6 lbs in 3 days. Delighted!

I've been following boot camp rules. For breakfast soft boiled eggs with butter or full fat mayo, salad with ham for lunch, some sort of meat and veg for dinner. Lots of water and black decaf coffee to drink. It seems to be working Smile

I just don't think low carb (well, no potatoes, bread, rice etc) is sustainable in the real world...

aseaandthreestars · 23/09/2015 12:54

Diamondo - I live on no bread, no potatoes, no rice, it's very sustainable. I've just had leftovers for lunch (brocolli cheese quiche thingy) and I'm going to be comfortably full until dinner (around 7ish). There's nothing really to sustain - I eat lots of nice food - that's more of a pleasure than a sustaining thing.

Have you tried logging what you do eat? There's no point changing anything until you know where you're starting (sorry, I'm trying to give advice, in case it sounds condescending, please read the above in a very kind tone).

Kazzawazzawo0 · 23/09/2015 20:48

Diamondo, I find it easy to stick to. If eating out I ask for salad instead of chips/potatoes. I eat lots of meat and veg, masses of salad, I have decaf Americano with cream if we go out for coffee. It's not A problem.

Today I've had bacon and eggs for breakfast and homemade chilli without kidney beans for dinner (No rice) and nothing else start from lots of black decaf coffee and water, I'm not at all hungry.

Kazzawazzawo0 · 23/09/2015 20:49

Typo! Nothing else apart from black coffee and water.

Towelonthedoor · 12/12/2015 23:04

Which low carb rules do you follow? Is there a website with guidelines?
