I am just embarking on my low carb journey. Started yesterday :-) I am a huge tea drinker and could literally get through buckets a day. I really don't want this to be my downfall.
Please can you give me your ideas for a nice warming hot drink without the carbs.
Thank you

I'm guessing its the milk that's your problem? Personally I drink mine with a slice of lemon but I've heard a lot of low carbers drink it with a little cream or even coconut oil. Lactofree milk is a favourite too. Still got carbs but I believe its less than normal milk so it lets you work in more cups than if you were counting the carbs in real milk.

Hope this helps. My poison is black coffee so its not a problem I've had to overcome.

I like Twinings Salted caramel green tea. It's nothing like tea and took me a few weeks to get used to, but it's just lovely now I'm used to it!

I drink rooibos tea, it doesn't need milk. Easy to drink and caffeine free. Smile

I low carb and have never counted the milk in tea or coffee. I have about 7 cups per day. I did switch to full cream milk as you need less. Plus, full cream milk is less processed so it makes me feel more virtuous ??

Although a quick Google tells me whole milk has twice the carbs than cream. Wowzers. So, have about half a cup of milk a day which Is 6g approx. is this bad??? Have I been kidding myself??? Grin

Keep the tea for now and if weight loss is slow then you can consider cutting it out? If you do cut normal tea with milk out though you can try white tea (similar to green tea) as it still has caffeine but less I think and you drink it without adding milk or cream.

I drink Lactofree milk, less carbs and tastes no different.

I have some cups of tea with a desert spoon of coconut milk/cream instead of milk, and some cups of Rooibos tea without milk. I couldn't make myself cut milk from real tea, but cutting milk from Rooibos was fine.

Gosh totally forgot this thread- really sorry. Thank you for all your replies. I have kept the tea for now but 1/2d my daily intake and instead am drinking 2-3 litres of warm water instead. I have lost 4 pounds this week. So it must be ok for the moment. Although I am only on day 9 and If am right you tend to lose more in the first week.
I will keep an eye on my weight loss and cut it if necessary. Thank you
