I spent the weekend in hospital after vomiting 2 pints of blood (lovely!) and was diagnosed with a stomach ulcer. I had no symptoms before last week, and the doctors think it has been caused by aspirin / ibuprofen rather than diet.
I got the usual NHS diet advice on discharge - low fat, no red meat, wholegrain carbs - and I am cynical that this is just their standard "blurb", rather than something that is specifically advised for gastric ulcers.
I've googled like mad, and there does seem to be evidence that low carb, and especially no sugar, does help ulcers, but it would be useful to hear from anyone who has continued low carbing after a diagnosis. I'm getting married in 6 weeks so I don't really want to risk piling on weight!
