I'm trying to re-lose the half stone that has crept back on over the summer holidays ... Recently been looking at my diet and has been pointed out on another thread that I am a carb and sugar addict!! Admittedly in the form of fruit, cereal and yogurt, but still ...
So, am trying to up the protein. What are good low-carb / low-sugar snacks??
I normally go for fruit (eat loads!!) either fresh or dried, or a cereal bar. Would be great to find some more protein-rich alternatives!

If you're eating low carb in general, you tend to not really need to snack so much, as blood sugars are more stable so you don't get that craving for food between meals once your body is used to it.

But for the first few days low carb snacks are essential to get you over that craving-carbs snacky feeling. Some possibilities:

  • A hard boiled egg, mashed with butter and salt and pepper, or just eaten as it is
  • Handful of Macadamia nuts (but don't eat the whole packet!)
  • Pork scratchings
  • Piece of cheese, as it is, or wrapped with a piece of ham
  • Low carb leftovers....low carb is generally a bit more labour intensive, so making extra so you have leftovers either for snacks or other meals makes life easier. e.g. a chicken drumstick etc for a snack
