My summer treats are generally ice cream, chilled fruit, fruit juice and squash. None of which are open to me on this woe!! What do the rest of you more experienced low carbers eat to stay cool? Apart from salad. I know aaaalllll about salad....

I am obsessed by a glass full of ice, fresh lime squeezed over, fresh mint and then topped up with fizzy water...its delicious, refreshing and strangely reminiscent of a mojito!

CorrieDale · 19/07/2013 19:46

Adds mint and lime to the shopping list...

White wine rather than red! Maybe a tequila with lime and lemon juice and some sparkling water but I haven't had the energy to make it!
We have a soda stream for sparkling water - love it!

Ice cubes in anything I drink. Good cold mineral water with some ice is a must for me when it's this hot!

I also love making some instant "ice cream" by mixing some frozen berries with some double cream (and vanilla) in a blender.

Maybe this recipe would help (of course without sugar) or any other semi freddo recipe that could be adapted to this WOE

Infused water. Make a big jug flavoured with any combination of:
green tea
mint
cucumber
lemon
lime
other herbs (basil or rosemary are good)
berries

Keep in the fridge, top it up during the day, add extra ice cubes etc. Or carry it with you in a flask.

or some ICE TEA - make some green tea or ginger or any other tea, add some lime or lemon, ice cubes and keep it in the fridge :)
