Jan ’26 Low Carb Bootcamp - week 7: almost done!

BIWI · 16/02/2026 09:53

Morning all. Sorry for the late start. I think I have been distracted by the appearance of sunshine and blue skies this morning!

Spreadsheet is here:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gsWvWpGzTSJld1avBi9-uLJveFZes9Qa2ORKthPMl8E/edit?gid=1415293539#gid=1415293539

So we have two weeks left. Still time to shed a few pounds. It’s also worth considering, perhaps, a return to strict Bootcamp for this last fortnight, especially if things have slowed down.

@SprinklesofRain (perhaps that should be DelugeofRain?!) Yes, I sat on one case. Monday and Tuesday was just sitting around - thank goodness for my Kindle - but the case finally started on Wednesday. We came to a verdict late on Friday - and then we were dismissed completely, which was a surprise.

It was a much more positive experience than the last time I sat on a jury.

Morning thanks for the thread @BIWI . Happy to say that I have lost this week, I was lower on Saturday, but have recorded today's weight.
im going to try for a stricter last 2 weeks, as would love to be a couple of pounds lighter.
Am going to focus on meal planning and drinking more water during the day.
I am feeling so much better for having done this bootcamp, thank you.

BIWI · 16/02/2026 11:02

You are very welcome - and I’m very glad it’s working for you Smile

I’m delighted to have lost another pound , half a stone gone now

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2026 12:02

2lbs up. Pah.

Not entirely sure why....hoping it's just "fluctuations", although this weekend might be to blame. A few glasses of wine, and two restaurant meals (it's birthday week)…..the second one (Bill’s) I really struggled to find anything nice to eat that wasn’t breaded, carby, or submerged in some sort of sweet/sticky marinade or sauce. (apart from the steak, which was £££). So I had chicken wings, followed by a roasted beet, squash and feta salad – definitely not low carb but at least it was a nutritious plateful, and I wasn’t shovelling down chips.

The other culprit is portion size. I’m an empty nester who thinks they still have children living at home, so I cook too much, then don’t want to waste anything.

Anyway, onwards and upwards (or should that say downwards?). 59 tomorrow, and I won’t be eating any birthday cake. Treating myself with a fillet steak and salad.

I’ve had weights in the 127s four times in the last week including today so heading in the right direction. The weekend went well largely because I managed to steer us away from eating out. It’s half term though and so there are days out and a night away to navigate then four days away the week after to the land of the boulangerie.

Aiming to have lots of egg based meals in between eating out to balance, take boiled eggs for trains etc.

InMyLowCarbEra · 16/02/2026 13:16

Over a pound lost this week for a total of more than 10lbs so far. Very pleased with progress and I’m KOKO beyond this week. Tried some low carb crackers with cheese last night - M&S ‘nutrient dense’ range. They had that polystyrene taste of a rice cake, but made of seeds. I wouldn’t say they were great but they did provide some crunch so could be useful for times when you do want something to spread something on!

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2026 13:23

Ooh, I'll have a look out for those, @InMyLowCarbEra . I normally buy the Olina's seed crackers from Waitrose (on the Free From shelf).

TeamToeBeans · 16/02/2026 14:27

Half a stone gone now, which is great. I’m planning on staying quite strict, it seems to be working well, and I’d really love to get to my target weight.

LowCarbForLife · 16/02/2026 15:05

Afternoon everyone, nice to have you back @BIWI!

Hope everyone is feeling positive today. Well done on losses, KOKO if not, and may we all be feeling the NSVs!✨✨✨✨✨

I am feeling much more positive this past few days - have settled back into my LC routine really well and got used to planning ahead for meals again. Slept really well the past few nights.

I have cut out the chia, nuts and seeds 'pudding' - it was too heavy on my digestion. Today's breakfast started with coffee whisked up with two egg yolks, a bit of butter and some double cream - testing out to see whether I liked it that way. Tomorrow I will add in some collagen and some raw cacao powder as well. Then I had the egg whites + 1 whole egg made into an omelette with some tomatoes. It's low on veg but I have to proceed slowly as I'm training my gut to be okay with increased fiber after a couple of years of issues.

Lunch was leftover roast pork, some cubed Comté and some olives (stuffed with almonds). Half an orange to aid with fiber but mostly to keep my meds from wreaking havoc on my system.

I don't know what we will have for dinner yet...I might have a chicken soup from the freezer. Pudding will be some frozen berries with double cream poured over.

Came across an interesting piece on The Diet Doctor website today, about calories - and why a calorie is not a calorie is not a calorie:

https://www.dietdoctor.com/science/calorie

Are all calories the same? – Diet Doctor

Calories are a unit of energy and are all the same outside the body. But they are not the same inside your body! Eat better, not less.

@CointreauVersial @InMyLowCarbEra try these home made seed crackers , the recipe was posted maybe last year , I don’t remember who sadly , as they’re really good , I can’t take the credit though

50g ground linseed
25g sesame seeds
25g chia seeds
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
120g cheese ( I do a mix of finely grated cheddar and Parmesan or Gran Padano ready grated )
1 egg

Then mix all together , use your hands !
Roll out thinly between 2 pieces of baking parchment , then cut into rounds , bake at 150°c for 20 -30 mins ( my oven runs quite hot )
They store nicely in a biscuit tin

CointreauVersial · 16/02/2026 17:09

Oooh, I have all those things in the cupboard! Might have a go at making them this week.

Also saving the spicy chicken liver recipe, although I will just chuck mine on top of a salad.

mumsandaunties · 16/02/2026 17:40

I’ve not done my weekly weigh in yet.. but I’m afraid a huge Sunday/family birthday dinner yesterday will have completely destroyed my chances of seeing any progress. That, plus the two desserts means week six will have been a write off.

I’d like to go back to strict bootcamp again, but I’m not sure I can cope with losing the nuts and seeds.

We are off on a city break on Thursday, so that’s another “high risk” situation. If I can make it through to Saturday relatively low carb then I’ll just KOKO.. but if I end up in a pizzeria on Thursday night (likely…but I promise I will look at other veggie menu options) I will go back to strict boot camp from Saturday for the last 9 days.

FinallyHere · 16/02/2026 17:45

I’m liking the look of those crackers. I’m usually happy eating pate with a fork, occasionally it would be lovely to include some crunch

im enjoying a (another) break in Scotland this time in a hotel where last night’s request for my salmon to be served with no potatoes and extra green veg produced a delicious hunk of fish and two florets of broccoli. A girl just needs more of the veg and tonight … loads of green veg. Hurrah.

tonight I’ve added to add two sides of buttered bred

DryWhiteagainW · 16/02/2026 17:53

Thank you BIWI for the new thread. Away for the week so no scales. Self catering so controlling meals easier but wine everyday 😬.

BIWI · 16/02/2026 18:52

Just wondering how you got on after your ‘blip’ @mynamefor2025?

OP posts:
BlueRabbitWasNaughty · 16/02/2026 19:24

Thank you @BIWIfor the new thread. I’ve been away again for the weekend so will weigh tomorrow but I’m not expecting a loss… however I have two fairly quiet weeks ahead so will go back to being strict and hopefully make it count.

RightTurnClyde · 16/02/2026 20:13

The scales are moving in the right direction again this week. I'm KOKO and reminding myself that although it can feel like I've stalled because Christmas feels like a lifetime ago, bootcamp has only been running for 6 weeks, which is really no time at all.

tinyspiny · 16/02/2026 20:19

I’m still KOKO but I’ve not been well so haven’t weighed , aside from a few dried blueberries I’ve been pretty strict .

venusandmars · 17/02/2026 09:20

Place marking on the new thread until I've got time to read and post.

Almahart · 17/02/2026 09:38

Hallo, back on it after my weekend off. Two pounds up but not too worried about that. I'm definitely planning to keep going after this BC.

Need to catch up on everyone's messages.

InMyLowCarbEra · 17/02/2026 13:10

Long fast yesterday- didn’t really intend it but was busy with work and home and by the time it got to 5pm I thought I might as well move onto dinner! Christmas ham from the freezer with dressed leaves, hm coleslaw, avocado and hard boiled eggs. Today lunch was lamb fillet with pickled cabbage, avocado, feta and tzatziki plus a low carb wrap. Tonight I’m planning pork fillet in mushroom sauce with ts broccoli or maybe some courgetti - or both. I’m trying to be productive today so set a timer for 30 mins and did as much ironing as possible and will go again after lunch. So boring but I’m determined to catch up with the backlog this week and then attempt to stay on top of it.

DryWhiteagainW · 17/02/2026 18:52

Being on holiday is hard. Trying to low carb strictly. Haven’t done badly but eating out is difficult.

TeamToeBeans · 17/02/2026 20:18

I was a pound up this morning! My own fault, I let things slip at the weekend. Today I’ve had chicken and salad leaves at lunchtime, and the @BIWI-inspired sausage, broccoli and halloumi roasting tin dinner.
