Just4June · 22/06/2025 08:32

Three weeks done and it's the start of our 4th week.

The spreadsheet IS HERE

I think the hot weather is passing, but we can still keep up with nice fresh salads, and remember to drink lots of liquids.

I've bounced around a pound up and down all week. Today was disappointing at only 0.3lbs down from last week (although I've been lower at other points). However I put down today's weight, and hoping for a bigger shift next week.

I've got my cousin and partner coming to stay so I've been menu planning for meals where the carbs are served on the side and they can help themselves. They are big eaters, like 3 courses, so I'll just have to declare from the start that I'm not eating any desserts. And I'll have to minimise the inevitable wine!

Brunch - coffee with cream; boiled eggs
D - piedemont peppers (roasted peppers stuffed with tomato, anchovy, basil); baked salmon with avocado/herb/creme-fraiche sauce served with roasted cauliflower and green beans; then rhubarb cheesecake - but not for me.

Congratulations on the loss Just4June. I get the disappointmrmt when it's small but the trend is still downwards so that is a success.

That menu sounds delicious. I must try your pepper recipe - I adore anchoviies. Gosh I would love a bit rhubarb cheesecake right now 😋.

We went out for dinner last night and it was a challenge to stay low carb. I did cave and had some fries with rosemary and was really cross with myself today. I will weigh in the morning but I am expecting to be a bit disappointed.

I can't remner who asked me to share the English muffin recipe last week. Here it is. Mix everything together and divide into two ramekins and cook in the micriwave for a couple of minutes. I tripled the quantities and baked in mufffin pan for about 20 minutes. I think I got 9-10 average cupcake sized potions which was more than enough with an egg or piece of salmon for breakfast.

Checking in. One week to do better despite having guests 🙃

CleanQueen123 · 23/06/2025 06:43

1lb up for me this morning 🙄 I'm going to ubercamp this week and see how I get on. This final stone is proving a nightmare to shift. I lose and regain around the same 4/5 lbs and never manage to get closer to 11st than 12.

JumpingintoJune · 23/06/2025 07:20

1lb up this morning , but I was 1lb down on Saturday , so will record the better weight and hope for the best !
8 weeks until the family wedding ( the bride has collected her dress , is super petite and will look stunning ) and I will not be that chubby auntie in the corner

Tricky week ahead , as we’ve a few days away planned , staying in a hotel and doing some outdoorsy stuff in the day , hoping it’s not going to be sweltering ,but not pouring either

Quashsquash · 23/06/2025 09:39

Ticked up a bit, which is disappointing. I have been following the rules but I think I have let portion control get away from me - I’ve been ignoring my own hunger and satiety cues. (Have to stop the “oh well, let’s just finish this rather than having MORE leftovers hanging round the fridge”.) Probably fell short of my water goal yesterday as well despite a litre at lunchtime alone…

lastchancesalmon · 23/06/2025 09:43

I’m also up a bit although have been lower. KOkO!

FinallyHere · 23/06/2025 13:07

With you @Quashsquash

im finding myself curiously reluctant to post this morning. I’ve kept to bootcamp but did eat more than usual over the weekend and have seen the results on my scales. I’m continuing my daily weighing and have to agree that it’s good to know when I’ve gone up but that I much prefer the smoothing out that occurs when I only weigh monthly.

im pretty close to target range so am interested to see these results but ouch how i feel the unfairness of even a few 100 grammes up even if i know a litre of water weighs a kg. Ideas about weight eh?

Just4June · 23/06/2025 13:27

@Goodiewhemper it was this Delia recipe

And this was the salmon recipe I added lots of herbs to the sauce as well - parsley, corriander, basil.

@CleanQueen123 do you know what's causing it? Not enough water, eating the wrong things? too much dairy? If you want to share what you've been eating maybe we can make some suggestions.

@Quashsquash weeks 3 and 4 are notoriously difficult too. I also find portion size hard, I generally eat off a smaller plate, but I still often cook far too much. Cauliflower cheese I made last week lasted for 3 meals which meant some of my other lovely menu plans fell by the wayside.

@JumpingintoJune @lastchancesalmon It's been a hard week for many of us! And, yes, all we can do is KOKO. I'm visiting my sister in 4 weeks and I am determined to use this mini bootcamp to reset my habits and the keep going, fingers crossed for 4lbs off.

I had a cousin staying so had a big breakfast, but off to the dentist now, so won't have anything more until an early tea. Left-over salmon and salad.

Piedmont Roasted Peppers

This recipe is quite simply stunning: hard to imagine how something so easily prepared can taste so good. Its history is colourful too.  It was first discovered by Elizabeth David and published in her splendid book Italian Food.  Then the Italian Chef...

@FinallyHere good on you for posting, and for continuing with your weighing experiment. It's really good to notice, and to record how the changes make you feel. I find it particularly challenging if I think I've being doing OK, and have eaten and drunk well. Then, if my weight has gone up I hate the scales, and I blame them!

prettybird · 23/06/2025 14:52

Down to 12st 3.75lb this morning. Pleased with that Smile

I’m back to where I was on 13 January - and I managed to get to 11st 6.5lb by 1 March Halo

Just got the good news that the delayed sale of my dad’s place should go through w/c 8 July Grin If it dies, it means we can book to go to South Africa in September - so that should help keep the weight loss momentum going Smile

Last night we had the lovely Robert Carrier salad of tomatoes, roasted almonds, avocados, cucumbers and Cheshire cheese with a spicy dressing (I’ve posted the recipe in the past in the recipe thread). Dh had his with some freshly baked sourdough bread. Hmm

My virtuosity might not survive tonight as I’m off to see Rumours of Fleetwood Mac with SIL and ds’s girlfriend and we’re going to Sarti’s (our favourite Italian, who make fabulous pizzas) beforehand. Blush

FinallyHere · 23/06/2025 16:15

@prettybird

rumours of Fleetwood Mac sounds ideal to me. One of my favourites evef

@Just4June thank you

RockyRogue1001 · 23/06/2025 17:44

Hello all.
I thought I'd had a tricky week, but can see I'm not alone.
Was away at the w/end so had to weigh this morning, and I'd lost 1lb. But can't seem to get on the spreadsheet.
Overall, it's not been terrible. I've lost half a stone, and I'm pleased with that.
I'd like to lose another couple of pounds by the end of June.
We're away 4 weeks today, so I'm hoping for another few lbs in July.... I'd really like another 1/2 stone, but I realise that might be a stretch too far.
But will keep trying.
@CleanQueen123, i know what you mean about losing and gaining the same few lbs. I really want to break that pattern this summer.
Good luck to both of us, eh
And everyone

DrBlackbird · 24/06/2025 08:34

On last years Bootcamp I did so well. This year up and down. Generally tiny but thankfully steps in the right direction. What’s definitely clear is that I eat in response to stress and need to work on what I eat in those moments. Still eating lots of salads, which is better.

TheOnlyMrsW · 24/06/2025 11:35

Back, and have managed to get to (almost) the point before I went to DL so the plan is to do ubercamp this week and try to get to the 1/2 stone mark for the month.
Download was as expected - although the heat did mean that there was a lot less alcohol as mainly wanted water instead. The usual dearth of LC friendly food stalls and very few actual vegetables in sight - even the vegetarian stuff was more processed alternatives like veggie burgers/nuggets/sausages than curries or chillies. I was quite impressed by the vegetarian breakfast place - smashed avocado/bacon/eggs on toast so did have that sans toast a couple of times but did what I could in terms of burgers without buns, chicken without the chips or potatoes. Did have gyozas one day which were gorgeous but definitely not LC!
Loving catching up with meals from last week, we are back into wet dreary weather here so lots of one-pot meals planned!

CleanQueen123 · 24/06/2025 18:20

I did go off piste on Sunday which probably didn't help. I lose motivation because whether or not I stick to low carbing, I seem to lose and regain the same few pounds. I think if I could get to 11.5st or under I'd be spurred on but I get stuck closer to 12st regardless which is so demotivating.

Just4June · 25/06/2025 23:19

I'm also losing and gaining the same few pounds, but I can see that sometimes I'm eating too much - even when I don't need it.

I was visiting friends yesterday, we went out for dinner and I had a seafood salad starter which was just enormous (and extraordinary value at £11.50 for a heap of salad, several slices of smoked salmon, a very generous portion of crayfish and mayonnaise, 2 pieces of hot smoked salmon and some crab.I gave the bread and some of the fish to my friend's husband. The problem was I'd also ordered a second course. As soon as I saw the size of the seafood salad I should have had a quiet word with the servers and cancelled my order, but I didn't. The resulat was I felt all a bit overfull.

My friend's husband is a big 'feeder', so he was determined to give me a fantastic breakfast this morning too... And I returned home to dh having cooked chicken and veg for my dinner. He's not usually the cook in our house so there was no way I couldn't eat it!

It's going to be a very different day tomorrow!

Made soup with the left over chicken, veg and cream sauce. Going to see a famous and lovely comedian tonight so getting all my water in early (I don't want to be the audience member who has to leave midway for a pee!), and will have a light dinner before we go.

B - coffee with cream
L - chicken and vegetable soup
D - cheese and broccoli omelette, with a side salad (evoo dressing)

YourFairCyanReader · 26/06/2025 20:44

I was quite demotivated as I hadn't lost any weight on Sunday, but I tried to trust the process and by yesterday I was a pound or so down again. I had several nights last week with wine and maybe that's why. I've read others posting that weight loss and especially menopausal belly fat won't shift if drinking.
Have had a tiny bit of potato today to remember what it tastes like, and I ate a sandwich the other day because I was travelling and it was the least worst option. Apart from that I haven't eaten them all month and it's so strange. I'm not bothered about starting again. Not missing pasta or rice either.

CleanQueen123 · 26/06/2025 20:59

Well I've had a really upset stomach today for no obvious reason. I'm hoping it's worth it and will contribute to some weight loss!

Just4June · 27/06/2025 20:57

@CleanQueen123 hope you feel better soon.

@YourFairCyanReader I know that for me (age 64) weight loss, or lack thereof, is really impacted by wine. For me to lose, I really have to knock it on the head.

RockyRogue1001 · 29/06/2025 07:40

I can't believe we're at the end. I've lost 2lb this week, which makes 11lb in total, which I think is great in a month. I've had a couple of NSVs (a couple of things that fit again) which is nice.

Thank you so much to @Just4June for doing this bootcamp, and well done to everyone. And a salute to BIWI for the history.

Just4June · 29/06/2025 08:53

Morning! After a strict week, importantly with no alcohol, I'm just over a pound down bringing me to a 3.5lb drop over the month. I am pleased with that, I am only aiming to lose a few more pounds so it's never going to be fast at this stage, but this short bootcamp has given me the motivation to pay attention and reminded me of what works and where I go wrong.

Thanks to all of you for joining in and posting your progress and some great new recipies. Thanks to @FinallyHere for all her support with the spreadsheet. Thanks of course to the fabulous BIWI for years of dedication and inspiration.

I've created a new ongoing chat thread which is HERE This is for all of us and everyone who has been on previous bootcamps. Please join us over there (I've reverted to my usual name).

Checking back in after two weeks awol on hols. After a stubborn week 1, week 2 was more positive with a loss of about 2.5-3lbs but I couldn’t update the spreadsheet! Then followed a fortnight of pretty healthy main meal choices (fish and salads) but with crisps and several G&Ts thrown in. Home yesterday and very motivated to get back onto LC and banish my excess weight, so I’ll see you on the new thread! Thanks for posting your progress and meal inspo, everyone, and especially to Just4June for this short bootcamp.
