Morning all

So we reach the end. Final weigh-in will be next Monday.

I'm away right now, but will post later this afternoon when we’re back. Just wanted to get this thread up and running!

Morning campers!
Lost a pound. I need another 3 to get into the 10s. Going to do it this week have decided.
No clue what I'm eating today. I have a lot of choice due to a big shop at Aldi yesterday. But forgot the eggs so haven't made that chocolate mousse yet. Going send the kids to the farm shop in the rain to get some if they ever get out of their pits.
Easter holidays and it's raining. SHOCKER.
Have a great day all

Checking in even though I'm not weighing in till later in the week Blush due to feeling so grotty and dehydrated Sad

Achoooo Wink

Thesoundofmusic23 · 25/03/2024 10:57

No weighing today as I’m away and up a hill with no scales. I’m hoping I might just nudge under 150 for next weeks final weigh in which would delight me. It’s been so good learning about this WOE which for the most part I have found easy to do and delicious. Thanks @biwi for your very easy to follow rules for BC. Makes it so easy to do and not have to overthink.

BIWI · 25/03/2024 11:32

Sorry to hear you're poorly @prettybird - pretty much wipes out the benefit of a holiday, doesn't it?

Picking up on a comment from the last thread by @Appalonia:

I've lost nearly a stone, which is what I wanted, just 2 lbs to go, but I'M SO SICK of eating this much fat. I don't feel unwell on it, but I really want to find a way of healthy, sustainable eating that doesn't involve eating such a high level of fat.

but I don't know what it is...

What is it about the fat that you have such a problem with? Is it any specific fat? And is it a real issue, or are you still not sure that it can be healthy?

Hello, I've slunk back after a week MIA.

I don't quite know what happened to me last week, but the bad habits that I'd let go of simply came crashing back. On reflection, not in a massively bad bingey way compared to last year, but certainly not compatible with this WOE.

But I've gotten over myself and I'm back on it. And actually I've dropped 0.4lb over the past fortnight. Not much damage done, but also not much progress made.

And now another test - Easter week! Easter is a big food cultural thing for me. This may not be a popular idea with all, but if I have to swerve all the foods, I will just sulk and likely relapse to spite myself. So I've come up with a plan which I'll post below. It does mean that likely it won't be a progress week, but it will be a manageable one. And then I'm clear through to Xmas 😆

AIBConsiderate · 25/03/2024 12:54

So Easter flashpoints for me are:

  • hot cross buns. Am seeing my mum and sister tomorrow, there will 100% be hot cross buns on offer. Instead I'm going to go to the garden centre in the morning beforehand as a treat, and then I'll shift my coffee with cream ritual to my mum's house. There are hcbs in my house now courtesy of my partner. They are banoffee and I'm not the slightest bit tempted thankfully. If I succumb to a bun, it will be the most special one that I can find, and only on Good Friday. And I have to have successfully low carbed all week beforehand.
  • fish and chips. I'd usually have this on Good Friday. I'm happy enough to swerve this weirdly. I might look to have a nice fish dish instead so I'll look through the recipe boards.
  • chocolate. I'll admit, I have bought a small pack of teeny tiny Tony's chocoloney eggs. These are to be shared with my partner, I will have the dark chocolate ones and no more than one teeny tiny egg on any one day. Also they are lost in the house somewhere so I might not even find them 😅NO OTHER CHOCOLATE FOR ME
  • The bootcamp compliant stuff! My mum is hosting an Easter meal on Sunday - lamb is going to be a fab option and I'm going to organise to bring some LC friendly options eg a creamed cabbage dish.

My hope is that having set some ground rules for myself and thought about where I normally go wrong, this plan will get me through. I know myself and I know I'm at risk of sod its due to food FOMO, which I only tend to experience at these types of holiday. The real plan is to make the most of the lovely LC options available at this time of year.

venusandmars · 25/03/2024 12:57

Had a stressful kitchen day yesterday. Started by cleaning the oven. dh did the pyrolytic bit (where you just switch it on and go away for 2 hours), and he left me with all the challenging bits - the side panels, the racks, the door - and the nasty caustic chemicals. But it is looking sparkly and shiny and you can properly look through the door and see what's cooking. Except nothing is! It started fine and there was ham roasting away merrily, veg prepped and dh's potatoes started. The a fuse went and all our lights went out. Reset the fuse box and all seemed OK until I realised the oven was cooling down - that must have been what caused the bang.

So half cooked ham, raw veg, and dh's potatoes swimming in warm oil.

We also have a combination oven that microwaves, grills etc but we only use the simplest microwave function and it takes a degree in physics to make sense of the instructions for anything else. A lot of swearing from dh and I as we worked out what to do but we eventually got the meat cooked and everything else to a passable state for a very late dinner. At least dh's potatoes were so rubbish that I wasn't tempted Grin

I've got 3 days away this week on a sort of retreat. The food is veggie but I expect it will be quite carby. Nothing I can do although I may be extending my intermittent fasting and only eating once a day. I'll also take some butter and some sachets of mayonnaise with me to add fat where I can.

venusandmars · 25/03/2024 13:04

@AIBConsiderate taht sounds like a good plan - especially making delicious lc side dishes. Maybe take some raspberries and cream as an alternative pudding, or some cheese?

Fish - I love this adaptation of Delia's Californian fish.
Lemon sole fillet, topped with a mix of mayonnaise, chopped fresh corriander, finely sliced pickled gherkins, chopped capers and a squeeze of lime juice (it's sort of like a tarter sauce mix). Top with grated cheese, some grounds almonds or low carb bread crumbs and grill. The mayonnaise and cheese heat up and cook the fish very gently so it stays moist and delicious.

AllTheBlackCoffee · 25/03/2024 14:58

Sorry to hear you're not well @prettybird hope you're on the mend soon.

That sounds like a good plan @AIBConsiderate I did similar when we went away at half term and having a plan with some more carby treats really helped to keep me focussed. Good luck (and enjoy that hot cross bun for me too!!)

We're at home for Easter, just the three of us (plus four dogs, only one of which is ours) as most of our family are away (see earlier comment re multiple dogs!). I've bought a leg of lamb for Sunday and will be making lots of LC sides, plus I'm going to make the Diet Doctor choc cake for pud. I'm actually really looking forward to it, as usually we're here, there, and everywhere visiting people but this year we can please ourselves Smile

OldandTired66 · 25/03/2024 15:39

Stayed the same which is great in terms of maintaining weight since last September but not so good in terms of actually progressing! Absolutely certain LC is the way for me, it's such a relief to not feel hungry all the time so will koko and slowly tackle the bad snacking habits that keep sneaking back in.

AIBConsiderate · 25/03/2024 18:00

@BIWI I did not know they existed!

I have no idea what they're like, but their bread is pretty good!

Magnolia82 · 25/03/2024 21:34

Sorry to hear about your stressful day @venusandmars.

I've pretty much stayed the same the last couple of weeks. As I don't have much to lose, I know this is to be expected (happy to have reversed the creeping gain that had started to happen at the end of last year).

lurknolinger · 25/03/2024 22:35

Another 2.8lbs off for me this week.
So just 0.4lbs to get me to the 1.5 stone off mark (since Jan 1st) .

Sorry to hear of all those with colds/viruses.

fortunately I've not got a sweet tooth so not tempted by chocolate or HXBuns - so am concentrating on what to get for the cheese board for my family Easter meal instead, which I'll enjoy!

TheOnlyMrsW · 26/03/2024 08:36

Morning all, very odd things happening on my scales, was a complete paragon of all things BC yesterday and 3lb on! Not stressing too much as I know that these things happen and they will disappear as soon as they appeared........
Office today and will be a busy one, there's an M&S Food across the road so going to treat myself to some pork scratchings! Dinner will be creamy chicken with mushrooms and roast veg, lots of herbal tea and avoiding Pret as it's a bit of a weakness......
@lurknolinger like you I don't have a sweet tooth, my challenge is going to be avoiding my carb-fest extended family who we're seeing quite a lot over the course of the weekend

LilianaVikavanovich · 26/03/2024 08:40

I put 4lb on …. But it was 12 nights all inclusive … I don’t think that’s too bad
To put it in some sort of perspective when I came back from my last holiday ( October ‘23 , I was 12 st 5 lb , after this holiday ( a much bigger holiday ) I’m 11 st 5 lb
I have a similar oven @venusandmars have yet to try the burn it clean button , but yep , the instruction booklet comes out every time try to use the fancy little oven ( we had a new kitchen last June ! )
Now , off to write a big shopping list

cathyandclaire · 26/03/2024 09:39

Another that's been MIA- health issues with my parents so running around the country madly at the moment. Have been sticking to BC light and managed to lose another pound with all the stress ( usually I go the other way). 9lb off in total, do pretty much maintaining now.

Thinking of BC light without being as strict on pulses and carbier veg like carrots to maintain- any other maintainers out there? What do you find works?

OldandTired66 · 26/03/2024 11:34

Pound lighter this morning after a bloaty, under the weather weekend so feeling much happier. Possibly the mythical carb flu which I've not experienced before (full on cravings, headache, tired, bloated). It would be lovely to end the week on a good loss so trying to stick to strict bootcamp for a few days and log intake. Todays plan
B: boiled egg
L: broccoli and cheese soup, chicken thigh.
D: Bolognese sauce, cauliflower, grated cheese
Almost out of veg so need to go shopping.
Coffee with ff milk x3 (I've abandoned cream but can't quite give up milk).
Water, water, water.
Trying to give up snacks but long gap between lunch around 1:30 and dinner at 7pm so stocked up on rollitos.

BIWI · 26/03/2024 12:01

Well done on braving the scales @LilianaVikavanovich - I haven't managed that yet Blush

But someone I haven't seen in almost a year commented on my weight loss yesterday, and all my non-summer clothes are still fitting well, so I'm hoping that by the time I do next weigh, all will be well! <crosses fingers>

AllTheBlackCoffee · 26/03/2024 18:56

Busy day today but had a nice lunch out at a Turkish place that was perfect for BC. I had grilled chicken and aubergine, garlic sauce and salad, plus lots of water to drink. Was delicious and all BC complaint. Dinner will be beef stroganoff and cauli rice if I can drag myself into the kitchen at some point.

Craving a glass of wine tonight, just really fancy that sour taste of a lovely Sauv blanc. I won't have one but it's tough to resist at times like this.

It's just unsustainable in the long term. Yesterday I was in town and wanted to have lunch. There was hardly anything I could eat! Carbs are EVERYWHERE! I just want to eat beans on toast or curry with rice or spag bol with pasta. Lots of pp stay slim whilst eating carbs, how do they manage it?

cathyandclaire · 27/03/2024 09:44

When maintaining I don't eat loads of fat, I aim for a more Mediterranean diet version of Bootcamp Light, which feels sustainable. More pulses, beans and veg but no potatoes, rice, bread, pasta or sugar, I feel better off carbs though and am used to it now.

BIWI · 27/03/2024 10:32

Unfortunately @Appalonia, some people can tolerate higher levels of carbs than others.

That doesn't mean, though, that you can't increase your carbs when you're happy with the weight you've reached. What it does mean is that a) you have to go carefully and b) you have to work out what level of carbs works for you, to maintain your weight.

As long as you aren't eating a high carb meal each time you eat, and you're not snacking in between meals, there's no reason why you can't eat higher carb meals every now and then.

Carbs ARE everywhere - but you also have to realise that this is why so many people are overweight! It's a nightmare trying to eat out on the go - and places like Costa/Starbucks etc are generally just places I avoid (unless I'm going in just for a coffee).

But - I thought your issue was with fat?!
