I think this must be the chinese water torture thing for lone parents?

I try to have a break while he is asleep but the fridge kicks in and it is the same musical tone as ds' muffled crying upstairs.

So I cant relax and keep going to check if he is crying or if it's the fridge.

It's often the fridge.

If it's the fridge I feel ok for a bit longer

but sometimes it isn't the fridge, it is ds crying and then I hate the fridge and panic as I am not ready for the fridge ds to wake up
(not finished small vodka and tonic after shit day)

gaaaaagh

lol!
how funny, i do exactly the same thing, only it's the dishwasher.
very irritating. i rarely go all the way upstairs though, i just go halfway
actually, sometimes I hear him even when the dishwasher isn't on, and it's just my imagination

i think this is a common thing for ALL parents not just the lone ones

i spend half my time lstening with the TV on mute as i am SURE i heard DD crying. it usually isnt her and i feel silly and slightly like im falling off my branch i have a DH (who is mostly asleep in the evenings hes a lazy sod) who does none of the listening and checking so must think im nuts bin the fridge or maybe try and figure out what the problem is that is causing the fridge to cry like a baby
