A friend of mine up until recently had a failry amicable arrangment with regards to maintenance from former partner with regards to their lone DD.

Things have soured somewhat due to him being a complete knob, what is the best way to formalise maintenance, is it via a solicitor or via CSA ?

Thanks

CSA but tell your friend not to hold your breath.

Quite often getting the CSA involved makes matters worse rather than better.

But they are the people to go to.

it used to be via the courts but now its just csa.

Know diff people have had different results, i had one claim open for 7 1/2 years without a penny but this year i managed to get a payment within 4 weeks of restartign my claim.

For me though its the principle of him paying towards his child!

Depends in what way he's beng a complete kn*b, really!

If he is employed and she knows some details I've found the CSA to be pretty effective - certainly it takes the personal bit out of the equation. But go onto the CSA site and use their calculator first, in case they would assess him at a lower rate.

my experience is a bit mixed they started of brilliantly got my money every month for a year and then stopped completely 2008 their excuse was we dont have the specific title/catagorie your case falls under so we are going to send it to Plymouth or the other one i cant remember i eventually started getting something Aug09 and it stopped again Oct09 im fed up now. it might be different for your friend hope she has better luck than me
