Men flirting when driving...

While the sun has been shining I've noticed a few strange things happening when in the car and it seems to be influenced by the colour of my top...

I do not consider myself to be that attractive, so when I've been finding fellas turning their heads to look in my car I frantically check the dashboard for lights that shouldn't be on. But everything's fine...

Add to this 'flashed lights' twice in one day and I get so paranoid that I ring exDP to check my car to see what's so wrong that me as a mere girl just isn't seeing!

Nothing wrong with car, maybe they thought they knew me...or maybe, dare I even imagine it... these guys are looking and flashing lights at 'moi' IN the car?!?! I've started to loosen up a bit and instead of glaring back with 'what the fs up with you', I find I'm being confident to meet their looks and when they smile back it's bloody brilliant! What a pick me up!

However, the interesting bit is it seems to depend on whether I'm wearing a light coloured or dark top and I find this amusing! Dark tops - no looks... but lighter colours, brighter, stands out more...looks! And there's always more when the sun's shining!

I'm finding this quite an addictive bit of research now while out and about...of course it's only a thrill to those of us not used to it, but a cheap thrill is better than nothing!

Anyone else with similar experiences? What do you do when a guy has his head completely staring into your car...have the nerve to look back? They're not very discreet are they!

Was it me that flashed you today ?

(Actually was at home all day and didn't drive and don't flash. Do sometimes smile at the foxiest smiliest babes, especially if they are singing to the radio).

erm... maybe I should be worried, dw sits in her car looking minxy and singing to the radio.

Thank goodness she always wears black on top.

No reason this is on 'lone parents' btw - except being one and not having time to socialise this is proving to be good sport!

H2D - mmm, I do sing to the radio a lot ...interesting point! Not aware of looking minxy though - although do have large boobs but even count that out cos you can't really tell in a car can you!!!

I believe men have very special and poorly understood radar and sub-sonic garment layer differentiation and shape detection systems. I wouldn't be surprised if they could pierce through the complex refractive distortions of your windscreen.

...and while there's a fella around, is flashing a standard flirtation thingy or does it mean 'get off the road' or something?!?!!?

Never noticed flashing. Never flashed.

It should be used only to make a person in another vehicle aware of your presence. It routinely is used to indicate 'you go first' or 'yes, do cut me up, please' to another vehicle.

A rarer use is to indicate to oncoming traffic that they are driving towards a police / speed trap.

Is it a method of flirtation ? No idea. Possibly. It probably is triggered by men's advanced shape detection system telling them: 'Beware ! Mountainous ranges and deep valleys ahead !'

well both cars were coming towards me and only flashed when virtually passing - one car had young lads in and driver bent forward to look 'up' into my car (one of those small but tall types) and waved frantically; I was deep in thought at the time and wondered what the hell was happening!! Made me chuckle though.

Too stunned to notice any speed traps or police...but got me worried now!

Lorries are good - CabWatch we call it!!!

shall have to run some properly controlled experiments on the same stretch of road, same time each day and manipulating all the many different variables...(no inuendo intended)

Deadoralive, I get flashed/smiled at when A. have bothered drying hair properly and it is straight (and therefore more blonde-looking) and B. am wearing a bright-coloured top and C. now am breastfeeding and have big tits

yes yes! 'bright coloured' is the thing...and of course lighter colours enhance any hilly regions...

maybe guys DO have this advanced shape detection system!

Advanced Shape Recognition is a big $$$ research area actually. Very complex stuff.

hmmm dh has big flash car but not a w@nker as far as i'm aware and not in the habit of flashing other ladies (I hope!)

Ah, is it a company car though, cos that skews the results a bit...not necessarily a reliable indicator of tackle size or w@nkerness since it comes with the job and is therefore good - not the same as someone's pride and joy bought and paid for by their own hand...

and doesn't have to be just big flashy cars...those little things (don't know my car makes) plastered with blue and white signage or those blue strips across the front...like rally cars - usually filled with baseball cap wearing lads with white puffa jackets n parked outside mcdonalds (here they are anyway v. intimidating)
