Baby's safety

Hi, I am a single parent and sometimes worry about my baby's safety if something where to happen to me while inside the house (e.g. if I had an accident). Don't have a family around, exhusband phones but if I don't pick up for days, he doesn't bother checking if everything is ok. Any tips on how to make sure someone would help the baby if something happened to me?

What sort of house do you live in? If you have neighbours then I think all you can do is make sure they know you live alone. Then if god forbid, something happens and they don't see you or the curtains aren't drawn or they hear baby carying then they will be more likely to intervene. If you like and trust them, give them a key. Obviously this won't work if you live out in the wilds.

I can see why you are thinking abot this but it's very unlikely anything ever will happen you know. Just make sure all your electrical appliances are in good working order, put down mats etc in the bathroom to minimise slipping and never, ever leave anything on your stairs that you could slip or trip on.

hows you london? am sure you will be fine, tho i understand how you feel ((((((((()))))))) would also suggest stair gates once your baby starts crawling and other safety features. xx

Hi, as a single parent myself i totally understand your concerns. My kids are older now so have been taught how to do the whole emergency scenario, phone my partner (lives 28 miles away) or dial 999 etc.

I would agree with telling a neighbour that you are a single mum and just explaining your worries to them and asking them to just keep and eye out. Or maybe you could ask a member of your family to give you a call each day. Also I used to always keep my mobile phone in my pocket in case of a fall etc.

Hope thats of some help and as others have said its unlikely that something will happen to you but well done for trying to be prepared.

Also make sure someone has a spare key.

I sometimes worry about stuff like this. How old is your baby. Do you know any of your neighbours? Have you got friends close by?
