Hi ☺️

I’m parent to a Teen lad, a lone parent in Scotland -approaching end of my 50’s and have absolutely no friends, been like this for really around a decade fully, anyone else in same boat? I am educated, social, see no issue chatting to others, not needy ☺️

Anyone else in need of a chum? Even someone on Messenger or WhatsApp, not looking for a relationship, just meaningful pals to connect with on a-sincere level…

I’m sorry, loneliness is hard, and making new friends can be hard.

what things do you do where you meet people? Work or hobbies or volunteering?

CormorantWings · 20/07/2026 05:10

I'm sorry you are in this situation. Have you lived in the same area for a while? Have you drifted away from friends you did have?

Meadowfinch · 20/07/2026 05:36

I'm a single mum, 60, ds leaving for uni shortly. I've had very little social life for the last 18 years because I've been busy, working full time and raising ds full time alone.
Suddenly I'm about to retire and ds won't be around 36 week a year, so I have an opportunity to build up my social life.

I'm happy to chat. Dm me if you want to.

I've looked for small volunteering activities in my village. Nothing fixed or regular but an occasional bit of helping out which gets me involved, and I'm trying to find a hobby group/class that I'm interested it. Little steps. What is there near you? Anything you've always fancied having a go at?

Hi OP Yes I would be happy to chat.

I’m 55, female parent of three - all over 18 and now left home at uni. I’ve gone through a divorce after a long marriage. I’m moving soon to the north - east from Kent in the autumn once my house sale is complete.

I’m on my own; I’ve chosen to stay rather quiet so I can heal and get ready for this next phase of my life, hopefully meet a new man and start again.

I have lived in a small town in Kent for the last 12 years and hardly made any friends. My focus was the children ( stay and home parent) and although I now work, it’s not somewhere I’ve made long term connections. My situation is isolating.

I am a secondary school teacher by profession and plan to make a return to it at least part time when I move. I like socialising, but my situation and where I live and former lifestyle has made that difficult. If you’re in Scotland and I’m in the North East - that’s not so far!

So let me know if you’d like to connect as friends. I would be happy to 😊

Hi

I’m a single parent, busy life-just generally find that folks don’t want to mix the same.

Hi ☺️

I still have a Teen in Education, which I play part in. I’m not sure how to message directly on here?

I live in a City, there are things to do of course, but generally find myself amongst folks that are quite wrapped up in their own lives..

Hi OP, that’s great! 😊
Thanks for replying and hope you manage to sort out the DM. I’ve completely forgotten as it’s been ages since I’ve privately messaged anyone on mumsnet
