Hi,I'm a single mum to 3yr old son. He's just started to be aware that he doesn't have a daddy, and I feel like someone's ripping my heart out.Anyone got any advice on answering the inevitable questions, and on how to stop myself feeling like s**t?

Looks like there are two surestart programmes in swindon website www.surestart.gov.uk They also give advice on stuff, and can help with childcare etc. I work as a family aide and am always recommending surestart to mums who have moved to new area or just want to meet people with kids a similar age. Just thought it might be a good place to start!

Any option is welcome as I'm beginning to think it's impossible to meet any other single mums in my area

SC, do go along there'll be loads of people like you there, and the surestart staff are lovely! You'll be fine and probably have a good time. In my area they do swimming lessons for mums and toddlers. This is a good way to meet people with no pressure as you chat in the changing room etc, but are not forced to if it makes you uncomfortable also it gives you sometihing to talk about- how your little one is getting on with the swimming, what you think to the instructor. Friendships are made that way and then you may want to join in other surestart activities! You will be fine

Thanks for the vote of confidence Hippi.I'll really try and give it a go.I really appreciate your positive vibe.I'm normally much more like you.I just don't know whats wrong with me lately. I get to eack weekend and look forward to Mondays again. How crazy is that!!? I would love to make some new pen-friends that we could invite to/go and visit at the weekends, especially with the summer coming along.I just don't know how.
