Hello - do you think it’s doable bringing a baby up in London in a small flat alone?

Family don’t live in London so will be doing it alone with friends helping when they can.

Please can you let me know whether this is doable and a good idea?

I am very worried and this pregnancy was unexpected.

I would move near family if you get on with them.

not sure what you're asking but plenty of single parents live in london? i have 4 kids and single parent in london

Yes. London is of course huge and different areas are very different in terms of facilities, services, nurseries, playgroups, etc, but generally there's a lot on offer like baby drop ins where you can meet other parents early on. If you start going to regular groups and activities (if you're able to) it can make it easier to meet people for mutual support. Some boroughs have Home Start, also, a charity that provides help to parents.

London is full of all kinds of parents! There's no reason why you wouldn't thrive.

My cousin has done this, her daughter is 14 now. There’s so many services and facilities in London, incomparable to the one horse town in the west of Ireland that my cousin grew up in.

Entirely depends on your circumstances. Need more info OP!

Congratulations on your pregnancy x

NuffSaidSam · 24/11/2024 01:01

It's doable.

It won't be easy.

It'll depend greatly on what your financial situation is and how involved the father will be.

It'd possibly be better to move out somewhere nearer family/where a bigger house is an option.

Fenellapitstop · 24/11/2024 16:26

It's very doable, you have your own village where you are. In my experience family does not necessarily mean help

Congratulations

Circumstance is it was an accident but I am single, in rented accommodation in London. Finances will be doable maybe but more the support of someone to raise the child and a father figure. Do you think it is manageable? Thanks so much for your advice here
