Soon to be a single mum

Is it hard being a single mother? I’m in a very bad relationship and I am not happy at all but I’m also scared I won’t be good enough for my child to raise them alone. Any advice for me? I just want what’s best for me and my child.

Better to be a single mother than in a bad relationship. What will your children learn about relationships if you stay? You will probably find it's easier than your current situation anyway.

It's not necessarily easy. But its a billion times better than being in a bad relationship.

Good support by family, friends and if you work your employer.
Make sure you get time to yourself occassionally & look after no.1 as much as your child.
No single parent should feel inadequate for choosing or becoming one as relationships are not the be all and end all if it is not healthy, happy or safe.
Including and finding a fun, enjoyable medium with your child or children in amongst the daily routines.
Blancing future relationships into your life.

Nuturing friendships.
Small steps and going easy on yourself.
Stabilty was my first unrealised need for single parenting...good job that suited our family with support, healthy home and decent food.
Realising you are worthy and have choices.

i say this as a single Mum of two boys with special needs, one of which is in a specialist provision and had very challenging behaviour when my ex and I split up, but I actually find it MUCH easier. I was doing everything in the house anyway and I actually feel like I have two children to look after now rather than three.

My house isn’t perfect but I’d rather spend the energy on having fun times with my boys, as well as unfortunately having to fight the system to get them the help that they deserve.

I'm much happier and have a much much better life as a single mum!

I’m just waiting to get a steady job so my child doesn’t have to suffer in any ways. Just finished a course to help me get a good job so I can support myself and my child without any additional help from anyone. Be financially independent and carefree :)

I find it much easier now! You'll be surprised once that weight is lifted how calmer you are as a parent. Try not to worry about it and remember to make time for yourself. A £1 face mask and a soak in the bath works wonders.
