I'm thinking of possibly moving to England, Birmingham to be exact. Any pros and cons? Am I mad? I'm a single parent to a 6 year old and my best friend of 20 years lives there. My daughter sees her dad at weekends but we do not co parent everything is done through his mum. it's a massive decision so just looking for any advice how will I know what to do?Confused

Uni will not be free if your kid wants to go later on...

No free travel on public transport for young people...

No more free school meals and school holidays along the English calendar...Also fines for taking your kid out of school outwith those times.

That's just a few of the policy differences that I can think of off the top of my head. But the above might not be relevant to you and of course being close to family/friends might well trump all that. At the end of the day you have to do what's best for you...you can always give it a try and come back if it doesn't work out.

Best of luck!

If he has parental responsibility you will need his permission as it is a move between legal jurisdictions similar to moving countries.
