leaving teenager alone

At what age do you think it's acceptable to leave a 14 year old alone for 3 days?

Someone I know has left her (only just) 14 year old at home whilst she's working away. The kid doesn't see his dad, hasn't got a 'phone number for him, hasn't got any grandparents around (estranged, no contact).

Never....although your question is confusing.
I mean it is not acceptable to leave a 14 y old alone for 3 days.

Sorry, I hadn't typed that properly. The child is just 14, home alone for 3 or 4 days. I didn't think I could be the only one to believe that it was unacceptable.
