Moving house on universal credit

I’m currently going through referencing on a private rented house after been homeless for 2 months and having my children apart from me as a result. Although I’ve just realised that you can’t get housing benefit on universal credit, so does that mean I would have to change my housing circumstances in my universal credit and wait until my payment after my next which will be September 15th to get payments for rent?

I’m due to move in on August 16th if accepted and I won’t have enough universal credit to pay for rent and deposit so starting to panic!

Hi OP . I think you change your circumstances on UC on the day you move in . I am going through similar circumstances. You can approach your council for rent for the first month rent and deposit.
UC can also help with an interest free loan to pay your rent whilst your rent element is being sorted out .

Goodluck
