Travel quarantine and school run

I booked flights in May to go to France at the end of August with my kids, during my time with them. But according to the new rules I will have to quarantine for 10 days when I get back, which is the first week of term. I don't want to have to ask my ex to take them to school. Does anyone know if there's any provision for single parents under quarantining laws? How are you supposed to get your children to school if you are quarantining?!

No provision for school runs, no. Quarantine means quarantine.

Do they not need to isolate too?

@dementedpixie

Do they not need to isolate too?
I was going to ask that as well but I don't know the rules for France.
dementedpixie · 20/07/2021 19:41

If they are all coming back from France then I think they all need to isolate including the children

Hoppinggreen · 20/07/2021 19:43

Don’t the kids need to quarantine too?

dementedpixie · 20/07/2021 19:47

www.gov.uk/government/news/fully-vaccinated-arrivals-from-france-to-england-must-continue-to-quarantine This suggests all need to isolate including children

PumpkinKlNG · 20/07/2021 19:50

Just ask your ex surely? When one of my kids had to self isolate we all had to stay home as had no one to take the others to school, there’s no special rules for single parents

isitjustlockdown · 20/07/2021 19:51

The children will have to isolate too, so no school runs (under the current rules which might change by then). The below is from the gov site:

For those without an exemption, these rules will continue to apply to all arrivals from France into England, including those who live and work overseas, diplomats, and participants in authorised UK COVID-19 vaccine trials, as well as those who are under the age of 18.

PeonyTime · 20/07/2021 20:10

Under 18s wont have to isolate for close contact after mid August.
The quarantine rules for travel are not the same, and all of you need to stay home for 10 days, unless you pay for release on day 5.

Thank you. That is not great news - 10 days quarantine means no holiday for us then.

Rules may have changed by then
This is why we didn't book to go away; too much uncertainty
