How often do you kids FaceTime their other parent during lockdown?

If you’re self isolating or if you’ve agreed to keep the kids in one household, how often are you allowing video calls? How often is too often? (Normally eow half holidays and after school too)

None here as my ex doesn’t see them but depends how old the kids are surely? Is it a problem?

every day.

Everyday here

SplunkPostGres · 21/04/2020 15:41

Guess it depends how old they are. It was a pain when younger as I needed to facilitate and DS was not interested. Now he’s nearly 7, and he can sort it out himself so it's no issue no matter how frequent

I’m surprised at every day as answers. DC’s dad calls once a week and DSD’s have been staying with us for a month and mum has video called twice....
Once a week and a text in between to check they are okay, would be normal I imagine x

DS and his Dad can FaceTime each other whenever they wish, but they don't

CrowCat · 21/04/2020 16:31

DD and her dad can call/text/FaceTime whenever they want. For the most part they don't!! An occasional message is all that seems to be happening at present.

Canineball · 22/04/2020 13:42

DC are 8 and 10, they normally have eow half holidays and midweek too after school and their dad has agreed for them to stay with me and he wants Facetime several times a week but says I should let the kids FaceTime from their own iPads, I’ve been getting them to use my phone twice a week so just wondered what everyone else was doing.

Everyday here and it pees me off as the kids wander around the house, effectively giving him a tour.

Canineball · 22/04/2020 13:46

@peekaboob can’t you ask your kids to speak to their dad from their bedrooms?

@Canineball one will be in the lounge, one in the bedroom, one in the garden so it's either herd them all into one room or he gets transferred from child to child. He never calls at a regular time, just spontaneously.

BiarritzCrackers · 22/04/2020 13:52

Once in the morning, once late afternoon, and a phone call at bed time.

exH is "in charge" of keeping track of the schooling programme, so on the days DS is with me, we contact him during the day if need be.

midnightstar66 · 22/04/2020 14:04

Mine have free access to their devices but they rarely call him. Maybe once between their EOW contact usually prompted by me/ He could call them any time too but doesn't bother
