Hi i went to my local job centre plus the other day for one of those calculations they do to see how much better off in work i would be.The results were shocking in the same job i would be better off doing 16 hours than 20 hours. Its ridiculous.Has anyone else found this.

Bluebell are you actually going to say to your new employer "thanks for the job but can I do 16 hours, even though you need me for 20, because I won't really be that much better off for doing 20?"

I'm sorry but I'd tell you to take a hike. It's absolutely awful that people are better off working fewer hours. But it's a lucky thing to have a job, show willing and gratitude and maybe it'll pay off! People with businesses to run don't care about you wanting 4 hours a week more with your kids. Chances are they hardly ever get to see theirs.
I know it sounds incredibly harsh but there is a queue of 100 people behind you that would bite your arm off for 20 hours a week work.
