To move 18 miles away?

My house is under offer and I have seen a property 18 miles away. It's a cheaper area, a largish village, lots of amenities and my Dad lives there. I've seen a house which is within my budget and has everything I need and more. I am moving as the parking where I live is a nightmare and I'm fed up to the back teeth with it plus there is so much development going on here it is no longer the nice market town I grew up in. I am mid terraced and the house I've found is detached with a driveway and garage.

I work full time in the town we live in currently and my DS8 is at the local primary. He wouldn't have to change as I come into the town for my work anyway. My DS13 is at a local private school as a weekly boarder (he got a brilliant bursary but one of the conditions is he has to board. He loves it. I miss him loads but as long as he's happy I won't take him out ☹)

Anyway. When DS13 is home at weekends and in the holidays he sees two particular friends who are within walking distance of our current home and he's not keen to move 18 miles away (it's around a 25 minute drive). I have said that I'll be travelling in every week day in his holidays so can drop him in plus my Mum lives here so he can use her place as a base if he wants to and can obviously have mates over to stay. He will have a bigger bedroom and the garden is bigger at the new place. DS8 is fine with it as long as he doesn't have to leave school or his football team!

AIBU to move?
