What help would you find helpful as a new L.P?

My best friend on many years with two children under 6 has recently split up with her partner after a while of being belittled and bullied by him, I've offered my help but would like to be able to help in a practical way.

We live in separate towns a few hours a way, and I see her every few months and we speak on the phone around once a fortnight. I don't have children myself so it's hard to know what would help?

Is there something your friends could of done for you when you started being a single parent that really helped?

someone to have the kids for a couple of hours would probably be really well received.

Invite her over. The thing I missed, well still miss to be honest, is adult company.

Yes someone to take the kids for a few hours so she can have a shower/tidy up/just enjoy some peace and quiet.

Company is also nice, before my friends had their own dc they would all come over and we would have pizza and snacks, so nice being able to spend time with a friend without having to find a babysitter
