Just that really.....curious if you receive anything from your ex, when you share access but you receive the tax and child credits etc

Thanks mutt I saw that which prompted me to do this post. In theory he should give me £160 but a part of me feels that I can't ask for it. I get by each month as I have a very cheap mortgage, but he has a full Time job and has

Obviously more income than me. I suppose I'm saying I don't need it but should I take it?

yes ! Take it and put it in a savings account for your DC's when they're older or for you guys for a holiday, for a rainy day ie. if you have to do emergency repairs on car or house, get them school uniforms, haircuts, braces, pay for school trips... You are paying for everything for the kids and he should contribute. It doesn't matter if you're struggling or not.

I have one. We did agree that in lieu of maintenance he would have to pay for things like coats and shoes etc. but my friends are shocked I don't get anything apart from half the childcare fee - he pays it to the nursery so I've not counted that as maintenance...

Even when he gave me maintenance it was only £100 a month so I do feel like he's getting away lightly....

If you insist on maintenance, he could refuse to pay half of the childcare and you could potentially end up worse off so just check it out first.

I work part time. She lives with me but sees him 1-2 nights a week.

I get tax cred and child benefit yes.

MrsRolandRat · 16/08/2015 20:18

Yes my ex and I share custody he pays me £500 pcm plus he pays the childcare. We have a dd who is 22 months. However he earns v good money and this isn't that much to him. Plus we are still good friends and I think he feels sorry for me as I earn pretty crappy money in my job.

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 26/08/2015 18:21

I have shared residency, DS is with me 4 nights out of 7.
I don't receive any maintenance. The child benefit is paid into my bank account though.
