No male role model

I'm a LP and have been for the last 9 years. My youngest is now 17, he has no male influence in his life apart from his peers. His Dad does and has always had contact but no interest or quality time, I hasten to add that he is not a good role model either. My son has no uncles, male cousins, brothers, nobody, just me and his sister. I have a DP (we don't live together) but my son doesn't interact with him, DP has tried hard but my son pays no interest. I met my DP when DS was 14, it's not that they don't get on, DS just doesn't seem interested. DS doesn't interact well with adults generally to be honest, I'm hoping that will get better as he gets older.

My issue though is the lack of male influence in his life. Does anyone have any experience of this? I worry about him so very much.

Thanks
