If you work do you feel guilty leaving dc ?

So im a single parent to dd(5) I work 20 hours a week over 3 days 2 of them days I work until 8 oclock, getting home for 8.20ish. My dm looks after dd on these days at my house.

I feel so guilty that I dont get to put dd to bed 2 nights a week. I literally see her for half an hour before school on the days I work till 8.

I don't think I'd feel guilty if she was at home with her dad if you see what I mean. But thats not going to happen he wouldnt look after her for 5 minutes. Oh well thats a whole other thread, It's his loss.

Does anybody else ever feel the same ?

You get to spend lots of time with your dd the other 5 days. If she was with her dad she'd probably be staying over so you'd not see her at all those days. So try and remember that when/if you are feeling guilty.

Your dd is very lucky to be spending so many evenings with you. Plenty of parents barely see their kids every evening and are too tired to enjoy it. Then their dc get to spend the weekend with the ex and so they don't get seen them then either.

Enjoy the time you have together and be proud that you are working to support your dd and that your dm is there to support you both too.

I think it is easy to feel guilty but look at what you are doing.. I am a CM and despite been able to drop and pick up DS. He still shares me most evenings with children who actually need more attention than he does.

I think guilt is a normal part of parenting whether in a couple or not.. There are plenty of parents never able to collect there children.

Sounds like you are doing a great job

I work 20 hours too. I feel guilty but it gets easier. At the v least our dc have a solid routine which they are used to and therefore know whether they are coming or going. Family childcare is the next best thing and your dc is being out to bed by the second closest person - that's a best case scenario

I don't feel guilty. I work 21 hours. I need to work and I think I'm being a good role model for my daughter

I feel better now. This time last year I was the skintest I'd ever been, really struggling. Now im in a much better position, so I shouldn't moan :)

Dd also had parents evening last night and it was all good so I must be doing something right !
